Back from Canvassing for my State Senator... (responses)
For more than 4 hours, in 90+ degree weather with no shade or wind, I walked the neighboring precinct with our State Senator and a fellow Dem Committeeman. I had the time of my life - sore feet and all.

The feedback was incredibly positive! Of course there were many not homes, but in the groups that were - only 1 person refused literature, 1 person was undecided, and 6 people from my personal group wanted yard signs. Everyone else greeted me with smiles, thanked me - confirmed what party - smiled some more, asked some questions - a few 'this is our year' & 'time for change' comments, etc. It was fantastic! I can't remember how many houses we hit, but it's one of the largest Precincts in our area (active adult, condos, duplexes, and 100's of single family).

There were also 3 Obama yard signs spotted, which is great since our Township prohibits political signs in yards outside the 45 day election window. Around here, we just keep ours in the window and we're okay. But obviously no one is complaining ;)

Now on to Saturday... I'm headed to Davenport, IA with a few other supporters to help canvas for the Obama Camp for a day.

1. Congratulations!
Which State Senator? Lucky you have a Dem to work for! Both my state rep and senator are republican.

2. Linda Holmes - she's up for re-election
We do live in a historically red area (IL-14), but the tide is turning :D

3. I live in IL-14
Nice how its turning purplish blue these days ain't it? I have noticed that unlike the past decade and I think since last winter when Hastert resigned, my state senator and rep are responding occasionally to my phone calls and letters. It's almost like they've realized that they represent me too.

:hi:
