Now that it's plain Pelosi is on Bushco's payroll, how much

1. I think they are blackmailing her...I think they started spying
on the Democratic Congress members and I think they have shit on them. There is no other explanation.

2. I think so too

MadMaddie...

I agree. There could be things that they have on anyone in her (and others) families.

Everything defies explanation. All of it.

J. Edgar Hoover, for one example, operated that way in Washington for many, many years. It's not beyond the realm of possibility by any means.

4. That's a good reason to change the Democratic leadership. We
need some new faces that don't have to worry about blackmail.

7. Not necessarily

Try thinking of it in this way: How about if someone were to let you know that one of your kids or grandkids might disappear? Your husband or wife might fall off a building perhaps. Maybe anthrax could be planted in public places in your home state.

Seriously, you know how bad these folks actually are right?

Why assume that anyone actually has to have done anything wrong? All you have to be is "not them" to be on their sh*tlist.

Those are the kind of things that I've been thinking about.

8. There is a big difference between the straight extortion such as
you have described and someone being blackmailed for wrong doing. Granted, both could be dangerous situations. However, I don't think that those in power would be as willing to commit outright extortion as they would to use damaging information against someone.

11. One takes the job with the understanding that they may be a target.
Media smears, having one's private life on public display...possibly assassination.

If you can't hack it, you have no business in politics. Selling out for ANY personal reason is inexcusable.

6. How would that explain her husband attending the Bilderberg Meeting --- ????
Of course, anything is possible ---

I think it's the DLC/money-men --- every time they move in, things move to the RIGHT ---

17. She doesn't need to be blackmailed. She's another party-before-country

politician, no different from the Republican kleptocrats we regularly criticize. Well, one difference-- she wants the corrupt political establishment to be run by insiders from the Democratic Party rather than the Republican Party.

10. So how do you explain the lack of aggressive leadership on
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 10:11 PM by MadMaddie
by Nancy P and Harry R? They are not stupid individuals, they are politically savvy yet they refuse or they are unwilling to go after Rove and all of the other criminals. It can't be explained away that the Democratic party has a thin majority.....so what? The Republicans have managed to stop bills with their minority status....

What is your explanation?

16. did you miss the fact that the Judiciary Committee has called for Rove to be arrested
for contempt?

I'm willing to bet that they wouldn't have bucked Pelosi to do that

my explanation is that Pelosi is an adult, a term not looked up favorably by some on this board, and she knows what she has to do to get stuff done

you have hit the nail on the head-she has a thin majority; the majority of Democrats are not progressives but are moderates and in some cases conservatives

a good leader picks her battles carefully; impeachment is not a battle that we will win; it will make us look just as bad as the repugs did when they impeached Clinton

it will make us look petty and vindictive and unwilling to take on the real issues and it could turn people against Obama in the general election

I'm willing to wait until January and let the Obama administration in partnership with the Democratic leadership go after the Bushies

that she could be "Wellstoned" if she got too far out of line going after Chimpco.

The people, even under dictatorship, still pay the bills through taxation.
