Slow news day?
Jeeze. How many hours will the m$m be concentrating on this earthquake that didn't hurt anyone and didn't do a lot of damage? They should name these things, like hurricanes; I might be more inclined to care. Or not.

2. Not a word in the past few hours; all earthquake, all the time.
It's beyond ridiculous.

4. I know an earthquake is terrible but come on.
When it's quiet at the office, I keep cnn streaming on my pc for breaking news and such. Well the earthquake in San Diego has been "breaking" for some time now. :)

7. I grew up in LA
Lived there until 1975, and a 5.4 magnitude quake wouldnt have been reported back then until the nightly local news at 6pm.

Unfortunately this over the top coverage is typical nowadays with these 24 hour "news" channels.

8. Right, a quake that seemingly caused little or no damage
beyond frayed nerves and a few dishes.

You don't think they're going to cover Stevens, do you? It's not like he's blonde, female, rich and missing.

9. Yes, I was in the middle of it, and it may have damaged my gas meter. . .
but other than waiting for the repair man, I've picked up the trinkets that fell off the shelves and put the earthquake behind me.

After the initial report that its happened, and the preliminary data is announced, and there's been the initial, mindless speculation on possible damage, there's not much to say for hours to come (provided there isn't immediately known, catastrophic damage, such as the '94 quake did to the freeways).

Better to give it a rest, put it in the normal update loop, and give a comprehensive analysis later tonight, when more is known, than to spend hours in mindless repetition of a Richter readout. But then, that's what I'd do if I ran the zoo. . .

10. Whatever else we learned today
we do know that GEM$NBC can change the script when it suits them. While they have failed to dig up the links re Ted Stevens and kept on with their scheduled horse-race, that sure was dropped for the earthquake.

They have ignored the shooting by the right wing Obama hating moron since Sunday.

12. We learned that script back when Levy and Condit was in the news.
They would go on and on about this tragedy and then Sept. 11th happened and poof!...You didn't hear anymore about it.

Had it occurred yesterday, it would have been Earthquake Adkisson. Well, that's how it goes.
