Glenn Beck: " Coverage of Obama trip almost embarrassing"
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/23/beck.obama.media/index.html

<snip>
McCain made a trip to the Middle East in March and didn't have to worry about finding seats for any network anchors, because none of them wanted to go. And while Obama was flying from country to country this week in a plane packed with celebrity reporters, McCain flew to an event in New Hampshire. After his Boeing 737 landed in Manchester, he stepped out onto the tarmac and glanced at the one reporter who'd bothered to show up. Yes, one.

But all of this points to a larger point: We've become a country that continually chooses the sizzle over the steak. McCain may not get my vote, but he gets my admiration for at least offering some substance and new ideas when he speaks. Obama, meanwhile, is like the rock star who's realized that he can just scream unintelligible words into the microphone between songs, and the entire stadium will still scream. When your fans already love you, there's no reason to risk it by offering anything that might be controversial. Remember the Dixie Chicks?

As candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain are ironically a lot like the way the media treats them: Obama is the glitzy magazine cover that screams for people to buy the issue, and McCain is the fact-filled article buried inside that makes you glad you did.

3. McCain and substance
in the same sentence is laughable.

And don't be disingenuous Glenn, just come out and admit you will be voting for McCain. No need to be clever or coy. :eyes:

21. "McCain" and "substance" in the same sentence is valid...
...as long as the word "abuse" follows the word "substance."

11. The GOP (and their MSM cohorts) are the ones who have made Presidential elections about image
rather than ideas. After 30 years we have a finally have a candidate (other than Bill) whose image is superior and now they are whining about it. Fuck them. :grr:

How dare you ask a Congressman to "prove you're not an enemy of our country".

15. Mr. Beck sounds desperate to say something good about McCain.
Face it. McCain is not presidential. He does not have a presidential bone in him. He can't speak ten sentences without twittering and twitching with insecurity.

And the insecurity is not unwarranted. He just isn't much. Never really was but for the stroke of fate that landed him in a North Vietnamese prison. McCain is a has been, not an is now. That pretty much sums up McCain: Has been.

A hero of the past living in the past believing in the past talking about the past trying to sell the past -- at a time when people want change. Americans and the world are not demanding change that is extremely well defined. We are just looking for a president we can trust to take us into the future with courage, creativity, honesty and openness.

Obama is the man of the moment, the man of the future.

Just give up, Glenn Beck. You too are a part of the past, a memory of an unhappy, frightened time when no one trusted you or the president. It's over for you and your kind. It's long been over.

Nothing to do but wait for sunset and the whole neocon nightmare will be gone. Go quietly before we close the gate.

26. Beck is a mental cripple. It's logical that a Government of psychopaths
would want people like Beck to be their voice.
