VFP meeting with Chairman of Judiciary Committee, Rep. Conyers is CANCELLED

The meeting was partly the victim of our success. Now that the House Judiciary Committee Hearing will be discussing what options Congress can take to restore the balance of power, including the possibility of IMPEACHMENT, it has become high profile and will crowd out the time of our meeting.

Because of this, the rest of our Campaign has taken on greater significance. Impeachment is now being considered on the Hill. If you don't want them to form some investigate committee to report back in 2 years, NOW IS THE TIME. Get everyone you can to call their Representative and call the Judiciary Committee members and demand impeachment. These are a critical few days.

July 24th will be VFP's Impeachment Lobbying Day, in Wash, DC but why not at district offices?

July 25th Wash, DC, 10AM - VFP attends Judiciary Committee Hearing, which will now probably overflow to at least one other room.

Remember two months ago we could not even get a meeting to just hand the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee 10,000 impeachment petitions. Then VFP members from Wisconsin gave us their 12,000 petitions to deliver, too. We had to brazenly say, "we are going to the office and sitting there he accepts them or we are taken away in handcuffs" (It was bit brazen because I only know of two of us who were ready to get arrested). Now the Chairman is scheduling meeting with us, Kucinich asked us for a meeting with us, and most of all impeachment is on the table. But it is only being discussed. The nation and democracy needs impeachment now! We have this brief window of opportunity to make happen what they 2 months ago they said was impossible.

If they are for impeachment have them push the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Rep Conyers, to act now. We need as many calls, emails and letters as possible before July 25th. GET YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO CALL.

1. Would it be possible to just run a massive TV ad campaign?

More than half the country favors impeachment. I'd think if there were ads telling people "call this number right now" for impeachment, they would be quite successful. The problem with most of the efforts so far is that the people calling are known activists. My Congressman knows who I am, as does his entire staff. I think when I call they just tune me out. It's going to take all kinds of other people to be calling and emailing so they get the point that this is what their constituents want.

8. Machinations

Congress is merely going through machinations in order to pander to the party loyals. On both sides of the aisle.

There will be no impeachment. People need to finally accept that and hold all those responsible for not allowing it accountable. And there are just as many Democrats as there are Republicans.

11. Is there a recent poll

that simply asks if people favor impeachment?

The only polls I've seen showing a majority of americans favoring CONSIDERING impeachment come from quite awhile ago and phrase the question such that the answer almost has to be "yes". E.g., "If it is proven that Bush broke the law, should the congress consider impeachment?"

9. It's just NOT gonna happen, folks..

Congress bugs out for the whole month of August..They will all be out campaigning during September & October, and the election's in Nov.. then they take off from just before Thanksgiving until after the first of the year, when the NEW congress starts..

The NEW congress will have a LOT on their plates, and they will want NO PART of any of the crimes committed in the Bush admin.. As much as it irks the hell out of us, there's nothing we can do..

All we can hope for is for a new attorney general, to open some quiet investigations and go after some of them later...if georgie-Boy's blanket pardons for all of them, do not make it impossible.

The time to impeach, would have been immediately after we took the house & senate..

To those who were dismayed that Obama swung to the center right, UNDERSTAND, HE is being supported by those strong INTERNATIONAL POWERS.

ALL his INTEGRITY couldn't make the necessary changes STICK! WHere would we be today with the energy crisis, if WE HAD LISTENED TO HIM, instead of complacently let the "EVIL ONES" SLITHER BACK IN POWER? FOR 20 out of 28 LOOOONG YEARS............
I went from $25.00 per hour down to $4.50/$6.00 per hour; rank ageism in hiring, and ultimately retirement poverty at %5.26 per hour SS income; in 18 years...........( Maine minimum wage is $6.35 per hour!
With the population of the country DOUBLED in that time I went from 15-20 free lance jobs per year, ( providing a modestly comfortable living) to 1 if I am lucky! Of course my expenses have doubled or more in that time!
If there is ANYONE in this country, who can get up off the floor and flourish, I am the Woman! I have proven myself at least 3 times, making super sweet lemonade out of dysfunctional parents, divorce, broken engagement, ( he was descended from the IMPEACHED SECT OF WAR....the nut doesn't fall far from the tree....NEXT TIME I'll check Ancestors .com before I say yes.......)
