"Between now and Friday the 25th, please take these steps:"

"Contact your member of Congress in support of impeachment.

Ask the media to cover the hearing.

"...He scheduled a July 25 hearing on "the Imperial Presidency of George W. Bush and possible legal responses....

"The administration has adopted what many would describe as a radical view of its own powers," Conyers said. "It is imperative that we pursue a comprehensive review."

White House spokesman Tony Fratto brushed off the action, saying, "Representative Conyers is putting the final stamp on a chairmanship that will be most remembered as a political vaudeville act."

Conyers did not say who the witnesses will include, but Rep. Dennis Kucinich, an Ohio Democrat, may be among them..."

1. Will the republican members of the HJC attend?
Edited on Fri Jul-18-08 10:01 AM by Solly Mack
Not attending would be in keeping with the WH talking point - "White House spokesman Tony Fratto brushed off the action, saying, "Representative Conyers is putting the final stamp on a chairmanship that will be most remembered as a political vaudeville act." "

And that got me to wondering if the GOP members would even attend.

I know the hearing will happen regardless and that they'll be Bush cheerleaders...but can the republicans refuse to attend?

Does anyone know?

2. Good question, I just called called the HJC and was told that
it would be for all members of the HJC and that there was not a separate panel.

4. Thanks!!! That was awfully kind of you!!!
I saw another article (after I asked) that said it would be the HJC and edited out that question. Thank you, again!!!

I still wonder if they'll attend. The WH talking point is meant to deride Conyers and all the previous hearings...and what better way to be scornful of this upcoming hearing than to refuse to attend?
