Hi, I'm Donna Smith from the film SiCKO, and now on staff with the CNA/NNOC. In my new position I have the honor, privilege, and heartbreak of reading the many health insurance horror stories submitted to our website www.guaranteedhealthcare.org. I am also coeditor of our new single payer blog that I urge you to signup for to join the discussion. Please don’t be intimidated by the "blog" terminology. More on the basics later.

We had a great initial launch of the site and blog timed in conjunction with our successful June 19th National Day of Protest against the insurance industry and now it’s time for us to step up our activity – exponentially!

There are some exceptional postings on the site from bloggers like Nyceve, a.k.a. Eve Gittelson, who is the most respected and well-know single payer blogger in the nation, a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, the Daily Kos, and the author of "Murder by Spreadsheet," as well as many of our RN activists and doctors from the Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP). We also feature some of the more poignant patient stories – both video and text – which remind us all why we are involved in this drive to change the broken system."

We need more traffic and we need to use all the tools we each have at our disposal to spread this website and blog.
We need to go, as they say in the online world "viral"

15. Who do I talk to about Medicare problems?

My mom lives in CA and is 70 and was married three times (first time for 8 years, 2nd for 2 years and 3rd for 9 years) and because she was not married to any of them for 10 years she does not get Medicare coverage. She worked a few odd jobs (but mainly took care of us three kids) in between but not enough to earn SS. Luckily her dad left her a little money but that is dwindling with having to pay the Medicare A price of around $425 monthly. This doesn't seem fair. Shouldn't they add up the years she was married? This is a loop whole that should be fixed.
