Fox News' John Gibson exposes Joe Wilson
And just to be sure you understand the title —
:sarcasm:

http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2007/03/07/gibson/index.html

Over the past 24 hours, Fox News commentators have been rising to the defense of the recently convicted Scooter Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney. Apparently not content to let others hog all the fun, John Gibson jumped in as well yesterday, offering the fairly unoriginal thesis that "there was a cabal inside the CIA working against the president's policy and they wanted to hide behind their secret status while they did what was essentially an anti-war political hitjob."

This cabal, of course, was fronted by exposed former CIA officer Valerie Plame and her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, who was apparently sent on his fact-finding mission to Niger as part of his wife's plan to undermine the administration's plans for war in Iraq. As proof, Gibson offers the observation that Wilson "says in his own book he didn't even believe in deposing Saddam back in the '91 war."

My God! What an awful, radical position that is. Surely this is the final proof that Wilson is a godless Communist hellbent on bringing down everything good and pure in America.

Well, maybe not. What Gibson doesn't mention is that Wilson's admission that he didn't want to see Saddam deposed after the first Gulf War doesn't exactly put him in rarefied company. There were, in fact, plenty of other people who had the same position on the issue -- people like, for example, the first Bush administration, including now Vice President Dick Cheney, who allegedly played a key role in orchestrating the campaign against Wilson and Plame.

1. LMFAO! So now it's a "Cabal" fronted by Valerie Plame
oh my god they are getting desperate. You know it's funny, in all the years this has been an issue I have not heard one Faux reporter mention the name Brewster Jennings. I wonder why that is?

7. Wow! A cabal run by a low-level administrative assistant?
You really need a program to figure out who's who at the cia.

18. Exactly the job title you'd expect for the person assigned
to protecting the world from weapons of mass destruction. "Get me some coffee, honey, then you can go back to running that little cabal of yours."

19. Perhaps most of them can't wrap their little shriveled minds around someone
having the kind of responsibility that Ms. Plame did — and actually being competent at it.

The last time I talked to him he asked me(after the Academy Awards) if I thought Inconvenient Truth was a political movie or a documentary.

His answer would be that it was a political movie, therefore it is not truthful and is really some kind of left wing propaganda.

I told him I didn't give a shit either way. I said that just to get away from him.

6. Wilson apparently didn't play right
Bush1 and co. wanted Saddam as a convenient bad guy. Wilson went for the hard truth, that maybe just maybe Iraq was better off with Saddam then with the PNAC alternative. On that thought is it possible that if B1 had won the '92 election we would have been at war with Iraq 10 years earlier?

16. At the same time Cheney outed Val and CIA, WHIG also screwed the Joint Chiefs
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 05:26 PM by leveymg
Or, rather, the JCS had their suspicions confirmed when the May 28, 2003 initial report of the Iraq Survey Group was circulated. That report showed, essentially, that someone had lied about alleged Iraq WMD in order to get the U.S. military to invade Iraq.

The Pentagon brass were livid - they told many of the the neocons at OSP to leave the building. The brass did something else - they called in the FBI, and that led to the arrest of Larry Franklin and his AIPAC co-conspirators. The Mossad Chief of Station, Naor Gilon, fled the country. Scooter was indicted. Cheney's central role came out at trial. The MSM is finally putting together the pieces, and in recent days has started asking why the Administration prematurely shut down the AQ Khan program in North Korea managed by CIA Counter-Proliferation Division (CPD) -- the same program that also covered Iraq and Iran within CPD, the office where Val worked.

20. Best concise explanation of the VITAL importance of what these traitors did to us!
You should start a thread with this as the header, and also spread it far and wide.

NOBODY in the M$M, cable gasbaggery, or anywhere else near the widespread media has summed it up this well.

thanks!

send it to Conyers....seriously

OUTING THE CIA (Pt. 2): Cheney Attempted to Destroy CIA Counter-Proliferation
by leveymg
Wed Feb 07, 2007 at 09:11:44 AM PST

Ambassador Wilson wasn’t the only target of the outing of Valerie Plame. Plame’s employer was. Virtually from the day it took power, Bush-Cheney dismantled the CIA’s weapons control regime and counter-proliferation programs that had targeted countries purchasing nuclear technologies from Pakistan.

The real effect of the Bush-Cheney Administration's actions was the destruction of the CIA Counter-Proliferation Division (CPD), where Valerie Plame worked in the Iran and Iraq units.

The intentional exposure of Valerie Plame on July 14, 2003 wasn’t just a personal vendetta or attempt to silence critics, it was the culmination of a program to undermine the work of a U.S. intelligence program that had been tracking a global nuclear proliferation network centered in Pakistan, run by A.Q. Khan, and financed by Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Countries.
