Another coverup happening with Brent Wilkes? Sounds like it!

The following story just came in last night at the North County Times. It sounds like someone is trying to keep Wilkes out of prison so he won't spill the beans, but doesn't want to be linked to the criminals of Bushco. And guess who the only set of people who would know about who this person would be (to provide accountability)? Federal prosecutors. Now let's see! WHO were the folks that were being politically hired under Bushco to replace more honest Republicans like Carol Lam, who got the boot here right after she indicted Wilkes? That's right, the federal prosecutors! Somethings stinks folks! We should be letting judge Larry Burns know that ONLY the prosecutors knowing who this person is, is NOT sufficient! THe public needs to know or Wilkes should rot in prison!

Gavel to Gavel: Secret benefactor may fund Wilkes' bail shortfall
Secret benefactor may fund Wilkes' bail shortfall

| Monday, July 14, 2008 5:09 PM PDT ∞

Someone is willing to plunk down bail money for jailed former defense contractor Brent Wilkes to get out of federal custody, but only if he can keep his identity secret from the press and public.

Wilkes, a Poway man convicted last year of bribing former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, is asking U.S. District Judge Larry Alan Burns to approve that secrecy condition.

Otherwise, the benefactor won't open up his wallet, according to a recent court filing.

"Mr. Wilkes' third party surety seeks to keep his identifying information, including his full name, confidential," Wilkes' attorney, Robert Rexrode, wrote in a motion filed Friday. "Revealing this would both be damaging to his livelihood and would reveal his net worth. ..."

Under the deal proposed by Wilkes through his attorney, even though the man's name would be kept from the public, federal prosecutors could be privy to it.

3. It could rhyme with a lot of things, actually
since Wilkes was the most obvious money launderer the RNC had, accepting fat DOD contracts for dummy corporations and turning the boodle into bribes, campaign contributions (bundled, of course) and generous donations to right wing PACs.

Keeping him in prison until he's squeezed enough to pop and tell all is the best weapon Justice has.

If they allow some Daddy Warbucks to bail him out anonymously, the game is over and this scum will never get what's coming to him.

And that's the idea, apparently.

4. If Brent Wilkes wants to stay alive, he should stay in prison.
He knows way too much. You can get killed in prison too but it's a lot easier to make it look like an accident on the outside.

If nobody was watching and Brent was some minor operative that could be offed in the can by some gangsta, he would already be dead.

5. If he does get out, he probably doesn't want to go to TJ or might get offed there too!
With all of the drug gang violence going on down there now, they could easily set him up to get offed and not arouse as much suspicion.

And I do believe he probably goes down there. There's a Mexican restaurant right on Poway Road down here which I heard he has frequented a lot in the past.

7. Jump bail and got to Mexico
Running the gauntlet on the road to Paraguay. Now, that sounds like the plan.

8. Yes, and how much of his bail is this guy paying?
Edited on Tue Jul-15-08 12:25 PM by calipendence
Perhaps that is what we should ask be clarified. If this guy pays the whole thing (KNOWING that Wilkes is likely to jump, but perhaps "hoping" that he will do so as someone who wants to help hide the Republican's criminal activities), then Wilkes has nothing to lose to do this!

In fact if it is kept from us that his bail is paid in full, he might ACT like he has to pay the rest, sell off his house for what he can get for it and his other worldly goods, and have a good "fund" to live on down there!

That DOES sound like the plan!

I think Judge Burns should be REQUIRED to tell us how much of this bail is being paid for by this guy and how much by Wilkes if it is allowed to go through. And if were Judge Burns, perhaps REQUIRE that Wilkes sell off most of his holdings and be paying a good chunk of this bail to prevent him from doing something like this!

Wonder if he'll be meeting up with Karl Rove then at some undisclosed location somewhere out there!

9. Good point
If Wilkes has no stake in the kitty, what's to keep him from disappearing?

Inquiring minds want to know.
