TORONTO (AP)—Alex Rodriguez hit his 537th career home run Saturday, moving New York’s third baseman past former Yankee great Mickey Mantle into sole possession of 13th place on the career list.

1. I predict ARod will hit 900 home runs or more.
He HAS to, to get a contract big enough to pay his wife what she's going to demand in the divorce.

Seriously though, when ARod is done, folks will hardly remember Bonds.

2. He's hit 537 in 12 years or about 45 a year
at that pace it will take him 8 more years to reach 900, assuming he stays healthy. He'll be 33 this month, he'll be 41 if he reaches 900 at the 45/year pace. I guess it's not impossible as there have been a great many good players still going strong in their 40's.

If he doesn't quite reach 900, 800 is very likely, even 850 is very possible. 900 and he really is Godzilla!

3. He's a hell of a ballplayer. Mantle should have played more night games...
played sober and had better medical care.

Hell, in Mantle's day they didn't want them drinking water during those hot day games!

It's a different game now.
