Is CREDO Mobile for real?

I got this email from them.

What can you do? You can support a mobile phone company that shares your values. You can
stand up for what you believe in with every call you make. You can join CREDO Mobile. We've
fought long and hard to expose the administration's surveillance program and bring to
justice those responsible - including Bush himself.

How different are we? Take a look below. What you see may upset you. For an immediate
remedy, make the switch to CREDO Mobile.

* When the ACLU sued the National Security Agency over warrantless wiretapping, CREDO
joined with an amicus brief - the only phone company to do so.
* AT&T's Political Action Committee contributed the maximum amount allowable by law to
the Bush/Cheney campaign - twice. CREDO has given $60 million to progressive nonprofits
like Planned Parenthood, Earthjustice and Iraq Vets Against the War.
* Verizon tried to block NARAL Pro-Choice America's text messages, calling them
"unsavory." CREDO supports text messaging for progressive causes through our Mobile
Action program.
* AT&T has censored criticism of Bush during a concert webcast. CREDO fights for net
neutrality as a member of the Save the Internet Coalition.
If you think progressive values are important, then it's time to think about CREDO Mobile.

7. Been a member for years, though I have a problem with...
their association with and support of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. This group has worked actively to severely restrict Second Amendment rights, to promote the so-called assault weapons ban (devastating to the Democratic Party), and to disseminate poor research. Nevertheless, I have told CREDO about my concerns and remain a member.

24. Thanks. I do indeed....
I have noticed on some more militant gun Web sites that CREDO is popping up. Knowing the hornet's nest capability of some in this netroot, CREDO may wish to reconsider its association with Brady.

26. "Hornet's nest"? You could say the same about Planned Parenthood, which is my pet cause...
Militant single-issue sites like those you refer to probably don't like much of what CREDO stands for anyway.

Personally, since I'm usually too distracted to sit and figure out which ones I like best I usually just check the box that says to divide it equally.

27. While I like to think that Planned Parenthood was as strong...
as the gun netsroot, the latter has shown its power before (and in ways not seen by the average person). My point is that CREDO may experience getting polarized (with a possible decline in expansion) if some "campaign" is started because of the Brady Bunch's presence (there are a significant number of progressives who also believe in the right to keep and bear arms). Anyway, if folks line item them out of their payments, it will show on CREDO's data and the Brady Camp. may not be seen as so "progressive" anymore. And IMO, this Republican-organized group isn't progressive. Thanks for your comments.

Steve

29. It's not PP, it's the anti-choice pro-birth groups that are militant. Only a small fraction...
...of PP's business involves pregnancy termination -- the vast majority of what they do involves education (including teen outreach so kids can wait until they are ready and make informed decisions), contraception (including classes in the rhythm method for those that want to do it that way), annual exams, pap smears, screening for STDs, help for infertile couples (yes)...... Yet to hear the anti-choice organizations tell it, all that PP does is rip viable fetuses from their mother's wombs. PP is dedicated and often will be the last resort for an abortion in places where all other providers have fled for their lives -- but I wouldn't call them militant.

But you probably knew all that already. :hi:

course if you believe that machine guns should be allowed, you're a republican.

23. Do you toss stones from the back of the crowd, or come out in the open?
What do "machine guns" have to do with the price of your viewpoint? If you'll check the law, full-auto guns are already legal to own under strict regulation. You're "you're a republican" taunt sounds like "Tail Gunner" Joe McCarthy picking a fight in an empty bar room.

I was reluctant to get a cell phone for years, because I didn't want to give my money to crooks. Then I discovered Credo...

12. We've been using Working Assets for long distance for many years & have continued with Credo...
Our one cell phone is with another company where we get 1,000 minutes a year that are supposed to roll over if we don't use them up. I haven't checked out Credo for that, but our cell phone usage is very light.

I recommend Credo/Working Assets for being an ethical company.

15. They are for real & a great company
Originally known as Working Assets and associated with Ben & Jerry (of ice cream fame). They have great customer service. You can also choose to round up your bill to the next dollar each month & they will use it for citizen actions and liberal causes. There charges for cell service are very competitive as well.

They're legit. Have them on all my land lines for years. Use "their"
credit cards too (Bank of America, used to be MBNA).

Cell isn't an option for me (no signal out here out in the boonies).

They've offered to buy out my Sprint.

I signed up with Working Assets for my long distance carrier, and Credo bought them out.

pay AT&T for the last time and dump the house phone. I've been a customer for about 4 years (Working Assets) and their customer service reps are great, which is good for a :dunce: like me.
