What really gets me about this whole Jesse Jackson episode

... is not what he said (and, yes, that does get me), but the fact that he would make a comment like that in a Fox News studio and not think that anyone would pick up on it.

The mouthpiece for the RNC is going to look for anything they can use to attack Obama, Jackson himself or anything with a 'D'. I'm surprised it came out now; this is something Ailes would love to get out just before an event with Barrack and Jesse would be together. Any "pundit" with basic knowledge of FNS would know to watch what they say.

We all say stupid things, but that doesn't make us stupid. But uttering something in a Fox News studio ....

4. Jesse gave Obama a tremendous gift!

Jesse Jackson gave Obama that segment of reluctant voters who were his toughest sell, those, largely male, white blue-collar voters who were going to vote for Hillary, but now might stay home or even vote for McCain. Former Chicago Mayor, Harold Washington recognized that having Jesse Jackson on stage was poison to his idea of being the "Mayor for all communities" in Chicago. His own son, an astute Congressman, knows "Dad" is ballot-box poison where blue-collar whites are concerned. Had Obama done the repudiating, it would not have been nearly as effective as Jackson being caught with a live microphone, appearing authentic.

7. There A Lot Of '83 At Play Here

And many of the players inside the Obama campaign were a part of the Washington campaign that year. You have it correct...Harold used Jesse's help in some interesting ways in those days. It was Jesse who helped organize and set up the template that Axelrod and others are using to beat machines with increased voter registration...but then would distance himself after the election. Also, in those days, Jesse had bigger fish to fry...he was looking at the '84 elections and thus needed Harold more than Harold needed him. Washington reached out to the "Lakeshore Liberals"...but also to the union folks and many others during his first term...expanding his coalition when he won again in '87.

IMHO, Jesse is taking the racist heat for Obama...he knows that the attacks on Barak's skin color and religion won't let up, so he's trying to muddy the waters. Imagine the head spinning that must be going on with a wingnut...do they embrace Jesse? That'd be like accepting Al Sharpton's invitation for lunch at Sylvias...

6. The Way Faux Played It...

They were in full orgasm...they had the "Exclusive"...a sure bombshell...the "old king of the negroes" was at it again and taking shots at the new one. This was wingnut gold as well as fodder for the rest of the corporate media. This was real "dish"...sure to show how the "colored" people weren't happy with the new "king"...and that (look inside the code) that "how dare that Muslim attempt to steal my pulpit". Oh the spinning...the finest "repugnican cloth coat".

I've been inside TV studios and "back in the day" there was an omerta that what was said off the air stayed within the walls. It was all but taboo to roll tape or even trap a "dry satellite feed" that could embarass a politician or other guest...but that was before cellphone cams, youtube and Faux noise. Now we live in the Truman Show...we're wired 24/7 and it's all out there.

Part of me thinks Jesse could be playing this for a "Sistah Soljah" moment for Obama. His son is a big wheel inside Camp Obama. Obama has been taking a lot of heat lately from the bigots and this could take their hatred and direct it in another direction...going after an old favorite target. Jesse knew where he was sitting and maybe he's taking one for the team. It also shows, once again, for the majority who are tuned off on this network, how racist they, and repugnican, are.

Looked like they grabbed a private conversation during a commercial break or something, and mass distributed the controversy. A news network, which is supposed to report the story, has become the story. Another sad day in American Media

In a reference to Mr Obama, Mr Jackson had said on US Fox News: "I want to cut his nuts off", not knowing his comments were picked up by a live microphone.

Mr Jackson had said he thought Mr Obama was "speaking down to black people".

The reverend said he was "very sorry for any harm" and that he had "deep and wide" support for the Obama campaign.

Mr Jackson has been a key civil rights campaigner and was unsuccessful when running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984.

'Moral Content'

Mr Jackson was talking to a guest ahead of a live interview on Fox on Sunday in Chicago when he made the remarks.

He was discussing the question of Mr Obama's speeches on morality that the presidential candidate had made in black churches.

He said he thought there were other key issues facing the black community, such as unemployment and crime.

The reverend added: "See, Barack been, um, talking down to black people on this faith based... I want to cut his nuts off... Barack... he's talking down to black people."

Mr Jackson said he had called the Obama campaign to apologise "for any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused".

"My support for Senator Obama's campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal."
