Brackets for a comma in history

In my opinion, the Scooter Libby verdict provides the opening bracket to the Iraq War while the Walter Reed scandal is the closing bracket to what W referred to as a "comma in history".

The manipulation of intelligence and determination to go into Iraq fueled the administration's quest to silence all pre-war debate. Scooter Libby is now the designated poster boy.

As the daily violence in Iraq continues to kill and maim American soldiers and countless innocent Iraqis, this administration views all that as simply a comma in history.

The final tragedy on this disgusting trajectory is the recent revelation of the treatment of the veterans at Walter Reed. I wonder how much money has been spent on yellow "Support our troops" magnets vs. actually spending money to treat our vets.

A disaster of epic proportions where the opening act foreshadows the tragedy to follow. There will be no happy ending.
