it's to the soundtrack of "Big John", you know "Big Bad John". It's the funniest campaign ad I've seen all season, but apparently Cornyn thinks it's effective.

8. Ditto
It belongs in the 50s and 60s. It's appropriate with John McWayne leading the Rethugs.

4. This always mystified me when I was living in Texas
In their political ads, why do candidates in Texas (mostly Republicans, but sometimes Democrats too) depict themselves as cowboys and big tough-guy John Wayne characters? Hell, even the women get into the act: remember Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the One Tough Grandma?

5. Kaye Bailey Hutchison ran one that had the same kind of visuals,
but with more generic cowboy music. Gag me with an iced tea spoon.

Meanwhile, I just got an email from the Noriega campaign saying that Texas Lyceum, a statewide, non-partisan leadership group, released a poll showing Rick Noriega just 2 points behind John Cornyn.

The poll also shows Cornyn running at 38%, a shockingly low number for an incumbent.

6. He has a natural doofus look to him which a cowboy hat can't change.
A lot like a certain other "all hat" doofus.

10. Copied Bill Richardson's ads..
Richardson's ads were done for the humor.. Cornball's..not so much..

Too bad time machines are not real.. I'd transport him back to Texas circa 1865 & see how "bad" he really is :)

11. Cornyn is a guy who wears starched, monogrammed pajamas.
He's one of those guys whose hands have literally never been dirty.

Big John, my ass!! Big Jerk.
