District of Columbia vs. Heller - Here is the opinion
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 10:17 AM by ThomWV
Read it for yourself and thank the Court for respecting the Constitution.

"The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, butdoes not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operativeclause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that itconnotes an individual right to keep and bear arms."

2. I suspect the crime rate with handguns will rise precipitously
also the death rate but oh well this is America the country with the highest gun related death rate in the world

3. Isn't the crime rate in DC already pretty high?
I realize it will apply outside of DC, but I'm saying just how much worse can it really get for the place the case originated in? I mean is this going to suddenly turn previously law abiding citizens into crazed gun wielding criminals?

5. Yeah, people keep predicting that
Every time, for example, a state passes more liberal concealed-carry laws. Yet, somehow, they're always wrong.

6. How long will you wait...
...before acknowledging that your prediction has failed, should what you predict fail to occur?

8. As long as it takes for you to admit that adding more guns will not help.
How long will it take for you to admit America has a problem with gun fatalities and injuries. Adding moere guns to the mix hasn't seemed to help one iota. America still has the highest gun related mortality rate in the world and not just by a little either. Compare gun deaths in Japan or England or Canada or France or Italy or ????All of those countries have less than a thousand gun related deaths a year compared to America with ove thirty thousand. Yep let's not have any controls what-so-ever...We are after all a shoot-em-up society and damn proud of it..

7. Breyer needs a smack in the head.
I can find no sound legal basis for launching the courts on so formidable and potentially dangerous
a mission. In my view, there simply is no untouchable constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment
to keep loaded handguns in the house in crime-ridden urban areas.

 :wtf:
