Carlin - There is no blue food.
I'd almost forgotten about this bit. It was hysterical when he did it.

"Why is there no blue food? I can't find blue food - I can't find the flavor of blue! I mean, green is lime; yellow is lemon; orange is orange; red is cherry; what's blue? There's no blue! Oh, they say, "Blueberries!" Uh-uh; blue on the vine, purple on the plate. There's no blue food! Where is the blue food? We want the blue food! Probably stores immortality! They're keeping it from us! "

1. Some forms of "refrigerator science experiments" are blue
but I guess they stop being "food" at that point.

2. You wouldn't want to know the flavor, either.

3. I think I remember the first time he used that line
He was doing his monologue and he suddenly cocked his head as if it just occurred to him and said "why is there no blue food" paused for a second and went back to his bit.
It really cracked me up at the time, but it showed us how his mind worked.

6. What made it funny was
That it had noting at all to do with what he was saying in his monologue.
It was like he was hit with a sudden relation out of the blue and it just came out.
I guess you would have to of been there.

4. Blue Smarties!
Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 08:34 AM by muriel_volestrangler

Blue Smarties are to make a comeback, after being dropped nearly two years ago, and will now be made with a new colouring extracted from seaweed.

The blue sweets were first introduced in 1989 - and discontinued in 2006 as part of a drive to remove artificial ingredients in children's food.

Makers Nestle say the new colouring comes from a seaweed called spirulina.

Wikipedia helpfully compares the old and new colours:
