UK bans commercial after O'Reilly whine. . .
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 02:55 PM by kevinbgoode
Once again, the blowhard self-appointed spokesmodel for all things moral - who leads by his constant self-righteous non-example, erupted in outrage over this lovely little Heinz commercial airing in the U.K.

John Aravosis over at Americablog.com posted contact information for the company if anyone wishes to react to this travesty. The 30-second spot can be viewed here (and I think it's cute):

I laughed out loud. . .

Okay...text story can be found at:

LONDON - Heinz Co. said viewer complaints prompted it to pull a British television advertisement for mayonnaise that showed two men kissing.

The ad for Heinz Deli Mayo depicted a kitchen scene involving two children, a father and a male deli cook with a New York accent, whom the children addressed as "Mum." At the end of the ad, the cook kisses the father as he leaves for work.

The Advertising Standards Authority said it received 202 complaints, some that said the advertisement was offensive, inappropriate and unsuitable for children.

2. These assheads wouldn't know irony if it hit them in the face, preferably repeatedly.
There is very little "gay" about it- the joke being that the deli owner is the stand in for "mum." No one should be offended.

7. I wouldn't be surprised if every complaint didn't come from an Amercian.

10. Heh - they did think of the children, because of the product, not the ad:
The Heinz TV ad carried an "ex-kids" restriction, meaning it cannot be shown in or around children's programming, because Heinz Deli Mayo falls foul of Ofcom's TV ad restrictions relating to products that are high in fat, salt and sugar.

The ASA has not yet decided whether to investigate the complaints about the Heinz ad.

6. 202 complaints all from people with no imagination.
Sheesh. It was obviously not supposed to represent two men kissing, but the fact that you can get a deli guy in a jar from Heinz. Brother.

9. one question
would they pull it if they were two women?

I noticed T.V. here in the states have those "Too hot for TV" showing mostly women, but never men mud wrestling. And are all those women strait?
