Religious right advocating violence if they don't get their way on banning same-sex marriage.
 These people are sick. Check out these comments advocating violent overthrow of the government by "P-Marlowe":

"If the ability of the people of California to amend their Constitution is removed by judicial fiat, then the people of the state of California would have both the right and the duty to take up arms to overthrow this judicial tyranny.

I don't say this lightly. But tyranny must be confronted, by force if necessary, or we will lose our precious liberty.

Our forefathers pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to oppose tyranny. We dishonor their memory by allowing it to fester in our time.

"SoCalPol" seems to be threatening violence at a gay pride parade:
"This better be on the ballot in Nov or things will get ugly.

Speaking of, next month is the gay pride prade here in San Diego and you can bet that there will be folks in the crowd who want this on the ballot and the poice will be even more busy.
Usually there is a crowd of well over 100,000 that lines the route.

It's pretty sad that some members of the religious right are willing to resort to domestic terrorism to prevent a minority group from being treated equally.

Here's the link to the madness: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2034799/posts

Go ahead. Let 'em show the world the hateful shit that we have to put up with. It'll expedite the process of equality for sure.

21. Lots and lots of gay people are fully prepared to defend themselves.
I've lost count of how many knives are in this place- kitchen, and not.

I don't think they are fully aware of the resolve of people like us to live in peace, undisturbed by them. They think of us all as lily-livered pansies.

If they act upon their words, they're in for a surprise.

I ABSOLUTELY do not advocate violence in the sense of pre-meditation, but self-defense is a different story.

I highly doubt any of these cowards would dare risk a confrontation in real life, but if it comes to that, so be it.

If this is the only choice they are leaving the rest of us, if it's the only thing they understand, and if it's the only language they are willing to speak, then let them suffer the full consequences of their actions.

They deserve No Quarter, and may they receive it. IN ABUNDANCE.

As far as I'm concerned, if this is all they have to contribute to human kind, perhaps they are better off not being a part of it.

They have no one to blame but themselves.

This foolishness has to stop. One way or another.

I don't think it's sad, I think it's wrong and as amusing as it is to note the freeper language taking on an elegant, grave tone when they discuss the imminent demise of our country as a direct consequence of gay marriage, posters like P-Marlowe should be hunted down and prosecuted for threatening. And it's strange, too, that these people could be so rigorously blind when it comes to their own hypocrisy, speaking of our "precious" freedom while revolting at the prospect of freedom in practice.

They buy the "red letter" editions so they know which pages to rip out. They want the God who tells them to stone people and invade cities, not the words of some long haired hippie preaching love and tolerance.

63. Maybe not everyone has
their mind in the gutter. Sex or prison rape would have been the last thing I was thinking about and your right if that was what I meant it would have been a stupid thing to say. The point I was trying to make is that if someone is going to advocate or participate in violence to get their way they may end up incarcerated and on the receiving end of some abusive treatment and regarded as someone less than equal. That was a poor choice of words that could be easily misconstrued, I should have said that differently or at least with some explanation. However, you could have asked what was meant before jumping into a rant on how stupid the statement was and wondering why nobody was piling on for a flame fest.

Could it just be that you really don't know what a "prison bitch" is? Is that what you're saying? Are you saying that you just spout off things without knowing what you're talking about? This attempt at an excuse and backpedal is lamer than your original reply. Perhaps you should consider quitting while you're only this far behind....

You'll have to forgive my cynicism that The FBI or law enforcement will do a damn thing in response.

When you have nationally syndicated Talk Show hosts trying to incite riots in Denver and calling for people to be killed, and nothing is ever done, you kind of get a sense that we are on our own right now.

>All they'll do is get uppity about "The fags called the FBI on me for my free speech! The Government is enforcing faggotry!"<

Making a written statement of intention to commit violence against another person is not "infringement of free speech". When we sit back and allow it, they've won, and innocent people get hurt.

How exactly do you intend to "fight our own battles"? This is an issue for law enforcement.

41. No, but they will use it in such a way. Of course you can fight your own battles.
One of the reasons for the reduction in Klan presence is that the ARA (anti-racist action) have been physically fighting them and winning. If you call the police, these morons start to think that they are superior to you. They start to believe their own BS. When they attack you and you kick their asses and make them look like fools, it destroys their recruitment. Young people romanticize a "bad-ass" organization that is so scary that the FBI is investigating them.

But if the same skinheads get beat up by a group of angry drag queens and their supporters, they'll be sulking in their mother's basements soon enough.

You give the knee-jerks enough local measures in enough places (like measures, even non-binding ones, to ban gay marriage, and the 'morans' will come out for the measure, and stay to screw the nation.

Maybe another front to get the Dems in power is to keep these things off the ballot in as many places as possible?

Protecting the minority from the tyranny of the majority - this is what the courts are for. They think that when we say "our country" or "our culture" or "our society", it means THEIR country, culture or society. Remember the "Great American Flag" uprising? They were trying to claim this country as their own.

Somehow, whether through popular media, political gasbags or their own regional histories, they truly believe that liberals are trying to "take" their country away from them.

More and more people are noticing that the sky doesn't fall when gay people are allowed to get married. The scare tactics aren't working anymore. People are starting to care more about the price of gas, the dead and maimed soldiers coming home, their jobs disappearing.

People who have pinned their entire political and social belief structure on hatred and fear of gay people are becoming lonely. They're losing all their friends. Nobody wants to talk to them anymore.
