Mitch McConnell's Senate Seat Now In Jeopardy
While much of the media and political world has been focused on the race for the White House, another contest with leadership implications is quietly gaining steam on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was never expected to be challenged for his seat. A four-term incumbent from a deeply red state, his favorability ratings in Kentucky have stayed steadily over the 50 percent mark for much of the past year. But with the rapid disintegration of the Republican brand and with several self-made political missteps, McConnell now finds himself drawn into an electoral match-up once deemed an afterthought. A recent Survey USA poll had him beating his challenger Bruce Lunsford by a scant four percentage points: 50 percent to 46 percent.

1. The Dem is awful.
He's a brand-new-Democrat, and he was recruited to run against a good Dem in the primary.

7. The Dem is worse than that...

Bruce Lunsford ran against now US Congressman Ben Chandler-D in the primary for KY governor against the Repub Ernie Fletcher. Lunsford, a multi-millionaire, forced Chandler to spend a lot of money in the primary and then days before the Primary election, Lunsford dropped out of the race and backed Fletcher. Democrats in Ky started a grassroots effort to find a qualified candidate and while they found two, the DCCC decided to support Lunsford. Money talks...ethics walk. To say that we have no choice but to vote for Lunsford is probably true...but I frankly see no difference...except Lunsford would have a D behind his name...as in DINO.

It doesn't help the progressive agenda to elect Bush-Dog dems. It weakens us.

15. As long as committee chairs matter, the letter behind the candidate's name matters
Lieberman is a bigger burr than anyone else, but as long as he organizes on our side of the aisle, he's good for us.

12. That's a valid point, but...
...anything would be better than the ass clown we have now. Mitch "you couldn't get a needle up my ass with a cannon" McConnell needs to go in the worst way. LOL

18. He may not be in "danger"
McConnell may not be in danger of losing his Senate seat. The Democrat may be the worst kind of Blue Dog DINO traitorous scumbag weasel jerknose. But there are two core facts that shouldn't be overlooked:

1. McConnell's losing would be a shiner that the national GOP couldn't cover up with a ton of pancake makeup; and

B. The Republicans will have to spend money in Kentucky propping up Mitch that won't be available to hold onto other seats in other states. This was supposed to be a race that the national party didn't have to sink any money into, and you can be real sure that if McConnell is feeling the heat, he'll be applying for the Super Deluxe Air Conditioner from the national party.
