Rovian timing. I agree that it is a possible precursor to a Cheney resignation. They will build up the issue of deteriorating health, with a few emergency hospitalizations, and try to win public sympathy for Cheney so that the bitter pill of a pardon will be easier to swallow.

In my opinion, we would be better off politically with Cheney (albatross that he is) as Bu$h's VP until the bitter end. On the other hand, I'll shed not a tear if he leaves tomorrow.
