Sean Hannity is a true Patriot!
That is, if by "Patriot" you mean someone who wraps himself in the flag while railing against anything that personally frightens or offends him.

or:

By "Patriot" you mean an attempt to frighten Americans into giving up their constitutional rights based on fabricated threats. (see Patriot Act)

or:

You mean, "Protection Against Threats, Real, Imagined, Or Theorized", an acronym considered for application to the Patriot Missile. (see Patriot Missile)

or:

A phallic device that shoots off with questionable reliability that was created by the military industrial complex for the purpose of wreaking havoc. (see Raytheon)

:puke:

The word is forever ruined.
I swear, that fucker takes me right out of my happy place.

1. I'm not even sure who he is
I know he's on Fixed News, but I don't watch it.

Turn it off. He's not doing it to you. You are.

And then you can join me in my happy place, where there's always room for one more ........

2. I try to avoid him....but he just pops in sometimes!
You're not missing anything, don't go looking for him, but he's a pretty popular figure out there and one of the worst rumor mongers in the media.

I don't watch him, I can't stand him, but he pops up occasionally while flipping the channels.

I drive long distances for work and he's got talk radio shows on top of his Fox cable show and, similarly, I sometimes hear a little of that show while scanning for stations.

More importantly:

It's not a matter of what I listen to or watch, it's a matter of what others are watching, and the fact that many of them they vote.

It is of no small concern to us what bullshit others are being fed. Pretending it's not there doesn't make him less powerful.

But on a lighter note, your happy place sounds nice and the best happy places are like yours, with room for others!!!

 :hi:

3. I know, I really do
I have the luxury of seeing and hearing those twerps only through the Keith Olbermann prism, which is good enough for me. But it's irritating to realize that their votes count the same as ours, is it not?

One of the facts that I found fascinating (forgive the unintentional alliteration) (wait, did I just say "forgive"?) was that these right-wing shows are part of the basic package of things like Dish TV and other cable providers. So, they get a built-in audience, and, sadly, too many of those people think their ill-founded words are gospel.

I have a good friend, Jewish, educated, white, affluent, life-long Democrat, who told me she can't vote for Obama because he's a Muslim. Even when I provided her with all the correct information, she refused to shift her decision. That's just an example of the inbred racism we're about to encounter in the coming campaign.

But it will always be dressed in clothes of another cut, and it will be subtle. You can be sure that Fixed News and their ilk will do their best to propagate the hatefulness I already anticipate.

Always room in my happy place for nice folks like you ..................

And if you promise to remember that there's always a comfy seat for you there.

4. Hannity strikes me as someone who is first and foremost devoted to
Edited on Mon Jun-23-08 11:17 AM by Marr
himself; his bank account and his own ego.

Second, he's devoted to his political party, which for him is a relatively small collection of political insiders and media pundits-- *not* your truck driving Republican uncle. Hannity is a social climber who clings to the wealthy elites of the party. That's his crowd, and he will say or do whatever serves them best (as long as it doesn't conflict with his first loyalty, himself).

That's really where his loyalties end. I don't think he has the slightest interest in the country, truth be told. He certainly doesn't care much about the Constitution or the regular people living in this country. He's kind of like a televangelist in that sense, only he sells "patriotism" instead of Jesus.
