A thought on those heroic journalists....

...who "speak truth to power."

That's not your job, your job is to tell the truth to the people about those in power.

Too bad you base your career and professional decisions on the jumbo mortgage you took out, the two leased Mercedes-Benzes and the attempt to keep a lifestyle suited to celebrities and professional athletes.

Flame away.

1. Heroic journalists? The ones reporting on this war? 'Cause there are

hardly any per this. I imagine this is a decision their corporate masters made, but I find it no less repulsive.

Edit to add: I'm sure you didn't mean these people per se, I'm just steamed that this is (not) happening.

2. Speaking Truth To Power Is Speaking To The People
Give some people credit...they do know what's going on and don't need some television bobblehead as to what to think. Most modern "journalists" are stenographers...easier to print the spin than it is to question it and thus many of us have become as suspect of those asking the questions and the questions they ask. Thus when someone comes along and does the rare thing of asking a serious question, holding a public official accountable, it's doing something that's both unique and valuable. Sad this is the case, but we are where we are.

The job of a journalist is to answer the 5 W's...who, what, where, when & why...with the why being left until the other Ws are covered. Today's "journalists" have the order backwards...more interested in pontificating than presenting the basic facts (that require a lot of work and isn't the "sexy stuff" the networks live for).

We have a beltway culture that has developed an incestuous relationship that has destroyed this country. There's no line between the government and the people as the corporate media has long ago abdicated any responsibility to either broadcasting the truth or in speaking that "truth to power"...it gets one disinvited to drinkie-drinkie parties, lets the competition get the big "get" and does little for one's bank account or career...and in today's "journalism", that's all that matters.

3. Most journalists make about 25K - 40K on average.
Most of them DON'T have the money to lease Benzes.

4. Those aren't the "journalists"....
...I'm thinking of. I'm thinking of the blow dried and perfectly coiffed bobbleheads that pose as reporters and interviewers. You know the ones, they get an interview with Preznit Fuckstick and fail to stomp on his small balls or they ask "hard" questions and "confront" those in power as a matter of ego not journalism.

5. I think I saw heroic journalists in a movie once
but that was a long time ago.

Whole different world then.
