A question for those of you who do this. What is the purpose of misspelling Mobil "Mobile" in the

name Exxon Mobil? I could understand if it made it into something with a derogatory meaning, but it doesn't. Just wondering.

The incorrect spelling makes more of a lasting impression on the brain than the normal, accustomed spelling. So, rather than competing with what is already "there," an out-of-the-ordinary experience works to create new connections in the old grey matter.
