Haven't we suffered enough? bush and McCain visit Iowa
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 06:54 PM by Bluzmann57
Both of them in one day? Good grief! We have done nothing to deserve this. An awful lot of the eastern part of the state has been flooded, as you all know, and today bush shows up in Cedar Rapids, too late I might add, and McCain shows up in Burlington. He does absolutely nothing to help, but he was there. To me, since they are here for photo ops only, they are part of the problem and not part of the solution. I say to them, go away. We don't need either of you.
On edit- you can read all about it at www.qctimes.com. There are separate stories about each man's visit.

2. Waved three times!!
This morning I had a chance to chat with a good customer of mine.....he is a retired General just south of Cedar Rapids...we were viewing his crops and making decisions on what to do next.
As the conversation wound down I asked....so...you going in to meet Bush today? He looked at me funny and rolled his eyes....but didn't say why. He then told me the whole agenda. I don't know how he knew, but I was surprised.
I asked about the transport planes I had seen fly in the last two days....He said the one Tuesday carried his helicoptors....the one yesterday brought all his cars. I left and didn't discuss it any furthur....he is 70 and one intimidating son of a gun.

I made my way back north and down into the Cedar River valley.....Trying to help farmers make decisions on whether to try saving the crop or tear it up and plant a different crop. As I was down there I saw the group of Helicopters fly toward the northwest I assume toward Anamosa then they came back.....the went up and down the devastated area three time and then headed toward Iowa City.

I did wave all three times....for some reason I could only get one finger up....and I held it up for as long as I could. I didn't see anyone wave back. And I wasn't shot. It wasn't much, but it sure as hell made me feel better.....for awhile anyway.

By the way....I probably talked to 20-30 different people today. I would ask them...you going to go see Bush??......everyone without exception responded with a litany of nasty words....You would think one would be positive at least.
All in all....a fulfilling day....
