Enron, now Bear Stearns....
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 01:08 PM by Skidmore
When are they going to close that Enron Loophole?

Is there an organized effort to push Congress on this? Do we need to get one underway?

1. When you get Phil Gramm out of the power picture
The biggest corporate predatory enabler of them all.

And he's on board when McCain.

Concerted activism works. We gotta grassroots it.

6. I don't know
I've heard of a group something like People Over Profits, but I don't know how effective or active they are. There is the group People for the American Way, but they have been using many resources to fight over constitutional stuff (understandably). And there is PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) that might have a handle on the status of the loophole since the lawsuits over Enron, et al.

5. I think if they raise the margin on energy trading we'd be back down to 1$ a gallon gas but...
...that's not exactly a good thing IMHO.

We need to get off oil and the only thing that keeps people moving in this country is hurt ... a lot of it.

9. Still, get the speculators out and raise taxes to invest in alt. energy.
Putting billions in their pockets, while they manipulate the market and block the development of renewable energy helps no one but them.
