26. Pat Peale. She was a GOP convention delegate from Texas in 2004
I once saw a brief profile of her, but it's not coming up in a search.

18. Will McCain be pressured to denounce this?
Or will the popular media give him yet another pass for the outright racism of his party? Obama has had to answer for so many other people; it seems that McCain should have to explain how this doesn't represent the True Heart of the Republican Party. Unless, of course, it really is.

Bring it on!

If they use this, this will alienate all those respectable white middle class people who imagine they are not racist.

23. Somebody needs to show them the scene from "John Adams"
with the slaves building the nation's capital and the White House. In the movie, Abigail Adams made a comment about how "nothing good can come of this" - I wondered if that was a historic quote.

25. that is historically accurate
Abigail Adams' comments about the slaves working on the White House grounds survive in a private letter she wrote. She witnessed slaves dressed in rags working when she first visited the (newly opened and not quite completed) White House.

I am paraphrasing here, but she mentioned that it was first and foremost immoral and cruel that people were in bondage at all, but beyond that, watching the owner of the slaves resting at ease in the shade, she said that it was disgusting that the slave owners were so idle and arrogant, and also that a couple of Yankee boys could do the work of a dozen slaves in half the time, and the owner of the property would be working right along side of them as an equal.
