They want us to believe Dick "Dick" Cheney was sitting in Tourist Class
It just occurred to me, after hearing KO's stand-in mention Dick's "deep vein thrombosis," that something's kind of weird here. I've heard of this thrombosis as it relates to being stuck in a cramped airplane seat for hours -- but Uncka Dick was on AF2. He had bunks and births and mattresses made out of $100 bills. And a medical staff. And pouches of krill for food. How the hell does he get deep vein thrombosis from laying on an overstuffed bed full of baby hawk feathers? Just curious.

2. He's not a well person to begin with

Given his medical condition(s) it might not take as much as a healthier individual to develop a clot.

3. I had a similar discussion on another thread about this same thing.
There was one response that reminded me that Cheney flew to Singapore and several other countries on a plane they called "the Strom Thurmond". Inow remember seeing that plane on some news bit. Ihave no idea whatthe accomodations were like on THAT plane. I do however agree with you about AF2! That plane is nicer than my bedroom & livingroom combined!

My final comment on that other thread was "Slumming does have it's price,I guess!"

4. I maintain--this is a cover story!
Dick wants out--it's gotten way too hot to handle. This is the cover story "medical reasons". He can move his slimy butt to his Maryland oceanfront mansion and enjoy his remaining few years with his "grandchildren" (including Mary's baby) and his income from his Halliburton stock proceeds (Gosh, isn't it surprising that he was never completely severed from Halliburton?)

The rest of us can spend the remainder of our lives paying for the messes he created and apologizing to our children for their loss of respect in our nation's leaders.

5. With Cheney's history, there is no way he would be in a regular seat.
This is the chickenshit version of "taking one for the team".

He was riding in an Airstream trailer, for goodness sake.

He spent most of his time in a Air Force cargo plane (C-37?) sitting in an Airstream trailer anchored in the cargo hold (I have pictures, somewhere, but DU "search" is just that.... a search).

7. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
but deep vein thrombosis isn't unique to economy class on airlines. It is generally related to remaining in a seated/fixed position for a long period of time.

9. And that changes what about my post?
I understand what you're saying, but it still implies Mr. Cheney was somehow restricted to a confined space and couldn't move around. No way. He was in a freakin' Airstream. Maybe he was "confined" the way Shamu is "confined" to his billion gallon aquarium at SeaWorld, but Dick didn't have any lack of space in which to ambulate.

13. I don't think a diagnosis of DVT implies that he was confined,
but merely that he was immobile. A person can have all the space in the world, but if he doesn't move around in that space, then the risk of DVT is elevated. Treatment for heart/circulation problems, obesity, age, or a propensity for clotting also increase the risk, as does dehydration; some or all of these apply to Cheney...

This take is just bullshit.

This deal about Cheney "taking it for the team" is crap.
