Who will replace Cheney?

So if Cheney leaves office who will most likely replace him?

I'm predicting:
1- Condi
2- Frist
3- McCain
4- Lieberman
5- Jeb
6- Arnold

GWB will need the support of Congress. Dems will vote for Condi as a minority. Lieberman might make the cut to appease Dems.

GWB would want to pick the most benign candidate that is acceptable, while not compromising his wretched administration.

Romney, Rudy, McCain would decline because that would interfere with their campaigning.

3. Either Condi or Tom Delay

I could see them picking Condi just so they could say that they, before Democrats, chose a woman AND a black AND an hispanic to be Vice President; and also because the Democrats probably would not vote "no" against her. In fact, like the rest of the country, they would probably draw a sigh of relief that making her VP would get her out of being Secretary of Making Other Countries Hate us Even More.

6. I agree..Bush wouldn't pass up a chance

to put a Black Woman in office. Steal the thunder from Obama or Hillary being elected. Plus it gives him a Nixon like out. "Well he may have been the worst president ever but he appointed a black woman V.P..

5. Tim Pawlenty or Condi

Young, somewhat-charismatic R governor of Minnesota. Won re-election in '06, despite being in a blue state that went even bluer in the '06 blue wave. He's been floated several times as a potential VP candidate. However, that might taint him with Bush-stain more than they'd like.

If they're just looking for a placeholder for the next two years, Condi would be a major coup. First black and first woman in the White House? There's a media buffet.

I just want Bush to try to pick JEB or Arnold, that would be a media firestorm!

Also, if Lieberman would he finally stop talking about switching and finally go repuke?

19. McCain.

I have no doubts that McCain will run for President whether he runs as a Republican or an Independent. He will use that as leverage. That is the last thing the Republicans want because that will split THEIR vote.
However, they might just be able to pull him in as VP and convince him not to do that.
If they pull him in and Bush gets impeached...then McCain would have been President and he can stand aside for the next candidate.

Depending upon which one the RNC has decided will be their nominee. This would give that ... person the benefit of incumbency. And it would help them.

if cheney decided to abdicate his throne, now that the 2008 campaign season is in full swing, it would go to one of these three: Mcain, Guliani, or Romney.

to determine which of the three, there will likely be some type of naked steel cage match at the skull & bones compound in cambridge.

and i think that romney comes out on top in that 3-way contest...UNLESS...guliani and mccain form an alliance, whereby rudy will take the vp slot, in exchange for making mccain his '08 running mate.

27. Bush's Greatest Accomplishment

If Bush was concerned about how the history books would describe his greatest accomplishment, then he should put Condi in the VP spot. He's got 1 year left as a lame duck and there's nothing else to do that congress will let him. Besides the last minute pardon of Libby, Bush needs to think about his Legacy.

By putting Condi in the VP, the Congress will let her go through with slight resistence. It will put Bush in position as Lincoln - although his southern base despise Lincoln.

Cheney can still be the number 2 advisor behind the scenes, but Bush needs to embrace his inner big-govt progressive self and put Condi in the VP!
