An Army recruiter just called me asking me if I was interested in joining!

After I got my jaw up off the floor, I told him I was nearly 36, married with a 3 year old daughter. He then asked me if I knew anybody who was interested in joining and I said no. If I had been thinking quickly I would have given him the number to the College Republicans. Oh well.

I was in the Army in 1989 as an armor crewman (19K). The only way I figured they got my number was through the college which I am trying to go to next month.

They must be really hard up for recruits if they are calling me!

4. You are still in the system....

....I receive the obligatory call from my branch every six months. I simply remind them how old I am, and how much of a liability I would be in a combat arms roll.

Can't blame them for trying, though. They are running out of available manpower. (Disclaimer, I still have at least three dozen friends currently serving in both theatres and it tears my heart out everyday that I can't do more to help the men I've trained).
