Celebrity deaths in general
Some just hit you more than others, usually because of your affinity for the body of work or the person.

My husband and I were just saying that we WERE affected by Russert's death because every single Sunday morning we park ourselves and watch Meet the Press. He was actually part of our routine.

We were extra sad when Dan Fogelburg died because we both always loved his music, play it, went to concerts, etc.

AND, we both agreed that we NEVER got over the death of John Lennon.

When older celebrities die, you just sort of accept it. When someone dies unexpectedly, or too young, or due to tragic circumstances, they stay with you as a story with an unsatisfying ending.

2. That's exactly how I felt about Heath Ledger's death.
"Brokeback Mountain" is a movie that has stayed with me long after I saw it. "Brokeback" truly affected me...it's such a moving film for a gay man such as myself. And when I heard about his sudden death, it hit me hard. And I was dismayed to see some people around here make light of my...and others'...sadness about his death.

3. Ones that hit me the hardest....
Edited on Sat Jun-14-08 05:54 PM by Avalon Sparks
Princess Diana
Paul Wellstone
Kurt Cobain
Carrol O'Conner
Steve Irwin

I cried like a baby when these celebrities passed. Especially Princess Diana....

Wellstone, too - I had to leave work when I heard the news, I was devastated. I cried for about a week over both him and Princess Diana.

Heath Ledger was really sad as well.

5. True - I watched both Meet the Press and the Tim Russert show
frequently. If Russert was on a show I'ld usually listen - much like Chuck Todd.
