-- Who are these guys anyway? Public perceptions of McCain and Obama are changing dramatically – and with historic speed -- the more voters get to know them, a new national survey finds. The early good news for Obama, now regarded by many more as liberal, is that the number of those describing themselves as liberal has gone up 17%.

(all emphasis mine)

Lots more interesting stuff that seems to bode well for Democrats at the link:

1. The bluer the better.
The conservative brand is certainly under considerable strain these days.

Although he was still politically way too conservative for liberals, Barry Goldwater (in his later years) took the common sense and decency energy out of the conservative movement and sold the franchise to idiots.

And it's been downhill ever since, ending in the far bottom rockpile pit with the three Bush administrations.

Barack Obama, I hope, will be the beneficiary of the cultural awareness that "conservative" tends to mean a lower standard of living, the neglect of minority populations, oppressive international relations (including unprovoked assault on sovereign nations and "pre-emptive" strikes), and an obsessional proneness to snoop on people's private lives.

"Liberal" worked for John Kennedy and "liberal" works for me.

2. I am now telling friends and co-workers that I AM a Liberal and that Obama is NOT.

I tell people as often as I find the opportunity that I am a Liberal, in order to SHOW them that Liberals do not have cloven hoofs and reek of sulfur.
