Blood Clot Discovered in Vice President's Leg

Vice President Cheney is being treated for a blood clot that his doctor discovered in his left leg, his office announced today.

Cheney's doctor at George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates discovered the clot in an examination with an ultrasound device conducted today after the vice president experienced mild discomfort in his calf, spokeswoman Megan E. McGinn said. The doctor prescribed blood-thinning medication for several months, she said.

Cheney, who may have developed the clot during a recent trip abroad that involved extensive air travel, returned to the White House and continued working.

"He's right here now working," McGinn said. "He's fine."

Maybe he took a shotgun to his leg and gave it an ultimatum.

And why? I mean, the guy has more money than he'll ever be able to spend in this lifetime and two more. He's always had everything he ever needed, and his bum ticker would have put anyone else six feet under years ago; except he's always had the finest medical care on demand.

And yet, when you see him speak, or he has an appearance on Pumpkinhead's weekly slurp-a-thon, you see a deeply angry man. How it must tie him in knots to miss out on whatever it is that drives his hatemobile of death, destruction, carnage and chaos. Cheney makes millions off the suffering and misery he's inflicted on others, and yet he's so clearly not at peace with himself and is always seeking more money, more privilege, and more power for himself, and more death, more misery and more disruption for other people.

Years from now, historians will marvel at his tight, twisted little soul and wonder why the public didn't see what is so apparent from his records, writings, and the reminiscences of those who knew him.
