Tim Russert
WTF has he done to deserve hours of coverage about how ground breaking he was. What big story did he break? What did he do that was revolutionary? How did he use his power/influence/money to change the world/media/televison for the better?

I'm not saying anything bad about him, but the accolades seem to be unwarranted.

7. almost six hours without commercials
Damn KO has the first commercial. Six hours of news about the journalist. The Iraq war hasn't had six hours for the year.

2. I remember when he helped GOP candidates win governors races in Mass and FL
with his atrocious debate "moderation" but I guess that can't be pointed out because he kis now a saint.

4. I almost thought I was at the wrong site for a bit
I am sorry that he died and have sympathy for his family, however, he was a tool that furthered bushco crimes. We have been saying that for years. I opened a couple of threads praising him and actually clicked back out.
He did not use the media for its intended purpose...to inform the people. He used it for the furthering of crimes against this country.

8. Back in the day, no one was more obsessed with Monica and Bill than Russert.
I am horrified Russert died so young, and feel terrible for his family.

I quit watching Meet the Press long ago due to his relentless obsession with Monica Lewinsky. Sorry.

10. What's the problem with dedicating one day, a FRIDAY no less, to his memory?
He was a good journalist... up to a point. What he accomplished was becoming one of the journalists in the dead center of all American politics.

That really is saying something.

11. its the media congratulating itself on how great a job it does
and how it is filled with these huge titans who are leading the country in truth.

When in reality, He managed to be on top of a crappy, lazy incestious media.

14. I don't remember ABC shutting down their Network over Peter Jennings Death..and he was a War
Correspondent from VIETNAM ERA...and also a Middle East Correspondent...out there in the field like Michael Ware Reporting. I don't remember Russert as anything but a "Desk Man." Grilling Dems and trashing Al Gore and 2000 Election.

I find my view of him and his reporting and Saing Hood much different from what his "employees" on MSNBC..saw of him.

I am sad he died like he did...but..I remember Peter Jennings as being more a person who worked hard to get where he was in the Networks....I just remember Russert going after Dems and promoting his books and his son's "Sports Show with Carville" on ESPN when his son was still in College. He was friends with GE former CEO Jack Welch who seemed to give Russert Family their McMansion on Nantucket close to Jack Welch......He had a good life...I'm sorry he died at 58...I feel sad about that...but he wasn't really any "friend ..in any way..to Democrats." He was a Media Anchor who "ran the news at GE/MSNBC/CNBC. He has passed...

Condolences to his family.

15. Russert was an "Interviewer and a Pundit...and an "Inquisitor General" when it came to Democrats...
What's the big deal over him? What STORIES did he BREAK...What REVELATIONS are under his "Byline?"

Don't watch NBC if you don't want to see it.

17. SOMETIMES there are events NOT related to partisan politics.
This is one of those times. Tim Russert has died; have a little respect for the GOOD THINGS he has written and accomplished. The comments I am seeing HERE make me glad to longer be affiliated or registered with ANY political party; this is disgraceful and disgusting at best!!
