Kucinich went after the wrong Party first.
There is a reason that Impeachment is off the table. Nancy and Harry knew about torture methods and war crimes and signed off on it. Going after bushco would show the world that they were accessories to a crime. You think for one minute they would allow that? What Dennis and the few other Democrats with gonads should be doing is removing Pelosi & Company 1st. After they are gone the bushco house of cards will come tumbling down faster than Speed Racer.

2. I think you zeroed in on why "impeachment is off the table".
They are protecting their own asses.

3. From another perspective, the Bushco house of cards is already coming down.
At this point, it may well be better to take the Republicans out *lock stock and barrel* in the next election, than to pursue impeachment of the figurehead.

In effect, a broad, popular electoral sweep may be more effective, and more long term, than a drawn out Congressional fight.

5. I see no reason we can't do both unless...
Unless my OP is spot on.

Pelosi didn't pass the smell test from the beginning.
