Obama Gains Among Women After Clinton Exit (and Kerry stands up for Michelle)
Obama Gains Among Women After Clinton Exit

John Kerry, who has campaigned with Michelle Obama, said the attacks could backfire. "She's a mother of two young daughters, and her self-made story is America's story," the Massachusetts senator said. "I think a lot of people will be repelled by the attacks on her, because it'll feel like an attack on their own family. Republicans smear her at their peril."

Some Republicans, notably Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, denounced the anti-Michelle Obama video, but Kerry predicted that future attacks would be made by groups unaffiliated with political parties. "They won't launch these vicious attacks through Sen. McCain," Kerry said. "They'll use proxies and surrogates."

5. Kerry hit it exactly right about the attacks on Michelle.
He knows firsthand how crucial it is for Dems to stand up against the smears - as few risked speaking out for the nominee and his wife last election cycle when Bush and Rove were at their strongest point and Dem lawmakers feared crossing them publicly.

7. That was my thought..
The way it should work is those who are sliming are the ones who are shunned. That's the way it works in any other job place.

2. See what happens when it's one on one?
Fighting a war on two fronts is tough.

3. Interesting to note that amongst all women,
McCain was always the underdog. I'm glad that many women of my generation realized what was at stake once Clinton left the race and came to their senses about voting. Let's hope the other 3% get over their disappointment and back the Dems as well.

4. We need to identify key people of those groups so voters
know they are being political.

8. This sounds stupid, but...
in a way, I hope Michelle becomes pregnant. They will attack her in the same way bullies beat on women and kick dogs...being pregnant would protect against some of that, I would think. Besides, I remember when Jackie was pregnant with John-John. Maybe for that reason, I like having a young family in the White House and they are truly an attractive family in that they seem affectionate and inter-connected. I even like the grandma.

Well, some random thoughts from a mundane person who enjoys the stories on White House decorations and holidays, etc. I wonder what happened to Amy Carter and I'm glad to see Caroline Kennedy involved politically...

12. He always has given back up to Dems under attack - it's a part of who he is. Reciprocation has been
rare, though, from too many Dems who feared sticking their necks out for Kerry in 2003-4 when Bush was at his most powerful.

10. Glad to see the Dems fighting back with the truth. I wish somebody would
point out that often these proxy groups have nothing but contempt for the American electorate and really, really think a good portion of America is stupid. Why else would some group call Obama not an American citizen.

It is an insult to all of america.
