1. Yes, not everyone has a sense of humor as refined and sophisticated as mine.
There are many prudes on here.

3. Are you serious!

How can you talk about your fellow human beings like that!?

This web site is for people to get along, not create differences and labels.

I am shocked by your comments...

(ON EDIT: :sarcasm:)

2. NO "satire" label is a MUST.
As soon as you label it, it ceases to become satire.

And when it's not labeled, the reactions are usually better than the piece itself.

10. So true. It's like the saying -- "If you have to explain it, it's not funny".

6. I went with "Depends."
If it's me posting the brilliant work of satire, then no disclaimer is needed. Obviously, those well-developed intellects will get it, and those that don't, they simply don't matter.

If it's someone else, then not only must they include a "Sarcasm" emoticon thingie, but they should have to email me and let me know in advance so my tender feelings aren't hurted.

20. I went with "Boxers" although there was a time I wore "Briefs"....
Edited on Mon Jun-09-08 07:57 PM by MN Against Bush
I never wore Depends, but don't worry I don't hold anything against anyone who chose "Depends" because if I ate at Taco Bell I would probably start wearing them myself.

And even though I just said I would never use this, I don't want to hurt your tender feelings so I will include this: :sarcasm:

Now if you will just give me your damn e-mail address I can write to you with advice on how to find a shrink to help you deal with the pain you must be feeling because I was not able to notify you in advance.

13. Depends on how you stand up to being flamed
Some people have tender egos and should always use the smilie.

Others have hides like rhinos and can chime in at the end of a dozen flames with "Geez, don't any of you people understand SATIRE?"

I am in the latter group, but considering on how very difficult it is to satirize a political bloc that insists on unconsciously lampooning itself, I put in the satire smilie just to let people know they haven't done this one...yet.

14. LOL!
I must be one of those people with the hide of a rhino when it comes to satire, but I can also see when someone is getting offended, sadly, only after it is too late!

That's why I write most of my satirical stuff in other internets tubes.

Oh well, c'est la vie!

17. I frequently do it
There many who read posts here and are challenged by sarcasm and oblique humor. Also, far too many people take themselves far too serously.

19. I often write satire, and I never give a disclaimer
More often than not people get it, but every once in a while I will run into people who don't get it and they tend to think I am completely insane. Of course as a person who writes satire it is kind of my job to make some people think that I am completely insane, if I didn't freak some people out I would not be a very good satirist.

21. Anyone with a low post count would be crazy not to throw
in a sarcasm smiley or other notice. They risk being tombstoned in these days of excessive trolls on board.

22. 95% of satirical posts are pretty stupid
I think it would be better if more of the dumb satirical posts just weren't posted in the first place.

23. You should never have to say it,
because sometimes laughing at people is just as fun as laughing with them.
And I like to yell at my computer "FISH ON" when someone doesn't get it.

Side note: Evilgrins are perfectly acceptable.
