What is Harold Ford's deal?
Does he just think that to have a future in Tennessee politics he has to talk like a wingnut... or is he a wingnut?

4. I thought he was really good last night
His opinions on MSNBC last night seemed very reasonable and intelligent. Unless he has said something ridiculous today, I thought last night he sounded like he should have been reelected. He brought up some very valid points and actually managed to clearly state the obvious which everyone else was dancing around.

22. I'll concur that there were some parts in McCain's speech
that were good. I think like the pundits declared, it probably looked really good on paper. But I think saying it was his best speech ever, although maybe a stretch, is no reason to discredit him. I've thought that throughout this primary season he has had very good opinions as well as provided pretty good information from inside the Obama camp.

6. Harold has always been a conservative Democrat...
and the main reason he did not win in TN was the scummy, criminal, state political dynasty he was born into.

Every last one Crooked. As. Hell.

Harold E. Ford, Jr.

Harold E. Ford, Jr., born May 11, 1970, spent a decade as a member of the United States House of Representatives and was a 2006 Senate candidate. Described by President Clinton as "the walking, living embodiment of where America ought to go in the 21st century," U. S. Representative Harold Ford, Jr. (D-Tenn.) has distinguished himself as a charismatic, results-oriented politician with fresh ideas and a pragmatic approach.

Elected in 1996 to Tennessee's 9th congressional district, Ford was re-elected four times by an average of 80 percent of the vote. He built a reputation on Capitol Hill as a consensus builder while serving on the House Budget Committee, the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Known to his colleagues as a fiscal watchdog conservative, Ford played an active role as a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of moderate and fiscally conservative Democrats seeking middle-ground, bipartisan answers to the current challenges facing our Country. While in Congress, he was also a member of the New Democrat Coalition, and the Congressional Black Caucus, as well as co-chaired the Congressional Savings and Ownership Caucus and the Community Solutions and Initiatives Caucus, an organization to help faith and community based groups solve social challenges.

With American troops fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in the global war on terror, Congressman Ford believes national security is a top priority. As a member of the Department of Defense's Transformation Advisory Group, he helped to advise the Pentagon on developing a new organizational framework to defend the country and our future.

A gifted speaker and accomplished writer; Ford was the keynote speaker for the 2000 Democratic National Convention, and a frequent guest on popular news and political commentary television. He is the author of Tomorrow's Patriots, a political memoir detailing his forward looking ideas and vision for our country, and his op-eds have been featured in many Tennessee and national publications.

13. I know that
I just wonder if he is a true believer or just a pragmatic politician. I would like to think he is a good guy who is just doing what he has to do, so to speak, but I guess one never knows for sure.

He's the chairman of the DLC
Too often during Bush's long, dark reign of error, the DLC thought the best way to defeat Bush was to sound like a neoconservative to make people think that Democrats weren't soft on national security.

It didn't make them tough or soft on national security. It made them sound stupid made people think they were soft on the Constitution.

19. D(R)INO
Say anything, but do what's politically expedient and most profitable. Not "our" kind of people when it's all about power and position.

And yes, his family - almost all in politics - has seen more scandals prosecuted than the criminal in the WH has been accused of. And I said "more" not "worse", so I don't want to hear how graft and corruption don't compare to genocide and treason.

Again the age-old questions: "Nature or Nurture?" and "What have the DLC and Blue Dogs ever done for the Democratic Party?"

16. He's trying to "make nice" after he betrayed the Democratic Party for his own ambitions.
Harold Ford, Jr:

1.) Tried to prevent Nancy Pelosi from becoming Speaker of the House because she was too liberal.

2.) Participated in a failed coup to take out Howard Dean as DNC Chair and to take his job.

3.) Endorsed Joe Lieberman against Ned Lamont AFTER Lamont won the Democratic Primay.

4.) Made sure that everyone in Tennessee knew that he: a.) was very opposed to gay unions; b.) that he "like girls and football"; c.)supported wholeheartedly Bush's War in Iraq.

5.) Became Al From's sock-puppet as the "chairman" of the rightwing, corporate-sleazy DLC.

Harold Ford, Jr. now knows he really backed the wrong horse and that he needs to suck up big time.

But we all know that Harold Ford, Jr. is no friend of ours.

He's just Dirty Harry to me.
