How stupid can people be?

No wonder this country is in the mess it's in.

A colleague was telling me a story the other day. Her daughter's social studies teacher went to DC over Memorial Day weekend to surf the monuments. He was at the Library of Congress. There were 2 old ladies looking at the Declaration of Independence, trying to figure out whose signature was whose (keep in mind that the Declaration is in very bad shape and difficult to read). Here is the paraphrased conversation between lady X and lady Y:

LX: Oh look, isn't that Benjamin Franklin?

LY: No, he lived a couple hundred years before this was written.

LX: OK, then whose signature is it?

LY: It's George W. Bush's!




PS. This isn't a joke - it actually happened.
