ABC and Fox New's Challenge - Make McCain Look Like An Agent For Change

John McCain is flipping flopping once again as noted by his self-annointment as Bush's biggest critic. The real question is not so much what John McCain does. John McCain does not really bring anything new to the table, except the fact that he is a war hero. He has scandals (Keating 5), infidelity (affair with Cindy led to divorce with 1st wife after 1st wife was disfigured), and pastor issues (Hagey).

The real issue is the length to which ABC and FOX will go to prop up John McCain. We have seen some examples already such as the night before a set of primaries such as Fox doing a 3 hour feature of Ayers with a picture of Ayers standing on the flag. In 2004, ABC showed a hit piece on Kerry called "Stolen Honor" that was a regurgitation of the Swift Boat veteran lies.

In other words, Fox and ABC have no shame. They will attempt to swing the election in favor of McCain. My take is that they are ultimately trying to gain some leverage on the loosening of media ownership rules. Democrats oppose the FCC's proposed loosening of such restrictions, which directly hits Rupert Murdoch in the pocketbook.

So, the real battle may very well be progressives versus Newscorp and Disney/ABC.
