A 24 year old should not look like this
I'm 24 and I've never seen anyone my age like this. But I also have never seen severe addicts who abuse alcohol and other drugs like meth crack and heroine.

Amy Winehouse, the poor celebrity addict recently...not a good role model for young adults :(

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/02/amy-winehouse-goes-to-see_n_104819.html

Not one for arriving on time to visit her husband in prison, Amy Winehouse today spent more than an hour in court supporting her husband who faces charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The troubled star sat in the front row of the public gallery as Snaresbrook Crown Court, east London, and smiled lovingly at Blake Fielder-Civil, who smiled back at her from the dock.

Winehouse wore a short blue spotted dress in a clear effort to look smart for her husband's trial, but the classy clothes failed to hide her alarmingly bad skin.

The singer's ragged appearance shocked onlookers as she arrived at court

1. Maybe she has some sort of skin rash of somekind.
I don't know that much about dematology, but people have things break out on their skin, regardless of age.

13. Meth is the only drug I know that will do that to a person
and I've seen world class alcoholics who died of liver failure in their late 20s.

I wonder how many people would do meth, considering what negative examples users provide, were more benign drugs safe, available and legal?

My guess is not many.

This is a public health issue, not a law enforcement one. We need to get all the conservatives the hell out of office so we can change bad law.

49. Yep. Meth used to be a very useful, fun, and inexpensive drug.
Back in my car biz days I made a boatload of money being able to work 48 hours straight with only piss breaks. And customers were just ecstatic to be able to drop their car off at 4:00pm and pick it up on their way to work in the morning.

And then law enforcement decided the way to fight meth was to make the precursor chemicals unavailable. So the cookers just substituted other chemicals like drain cleaner and battery acid; the result is the poison that we see today.

55. Good cookers make pretty pure meth
although they fuck up the environment doing it.

The gummint says (and I think they can be trusted on this one) that the cycle of meth addiction numbers has pretty closely followed the purity of the drug on the market.

What they don't say is that since the more benign drugs are illegal and quite often hard to find, people have turned to bathtub drugs like meth.

I did meth for a couple of months in the late 60s, once a week just so I could get my flat clean and the laundry done after a tiring work week. The toll on my body was so great that I gave it up quickly and just decided to live in relative squalor.

Some people just don't have that kind of insight and end up addicted and with a body that is cooked from the inside out. It's a horrible drug.

but the product that most labs are turning out is very pure methamphetamine.

45. That is horrible looking.
Any idea why meth causes something like that? I see lots of meth users with sores on their faces and have always been told they make them worse because they can't stop picking at them. I don't know if that's true or not, but I did see a pitiful girl Sunday strung tighter than a piano wire picking at sores on her face constantly. I've always wondered why the get sores in the first place?

Meth is a horrible addiction that is made worse by using law enforcement instead of public health to combat the problem.

11. More reason to be okay with marijuana and even alcohol in moderation and condemn these hard drugs
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 01:27 PM by cbc5g
Kids are worried about appearance. Amy Winehouse is doing a good job showing teens what NOT to do in order to look decent.

By D.A.R.E comparing marijuana and hard drugs they are doing a disservice to our nation. Because once a young adult tries marijuana and realizes its not as bad as they said, they will try other drugs and maybe end up like Amy Winehouse.

Here's another shot also taken the same day as she's leaving for the courthouse. Notice that they brushed out the eye-liner in the "older" shot.

The girl's got massive problems. And you can see her skin isn't that great, even under the make-up. But that photo form the OP's post has been tinkered with somewhat.

25. she ALWAYS wears a lot of make-up, she has bad skin
i had bad skin when i was (much) younger than she is and it wasn't caused by drugs, it had unknown causes that stumped the docs, having bad skin is one of the reasons that young girls eventually might decide drugs are a good idea, if you ask me, our society is very judgmental and she is in the public eye

she certainly needs to get away from the drugs but when i see a young woman who has to heavily wear make-up because of her bad skin i can't assume the cause was the drugs, sometimes the cause is the other way round

i once read skin disease causes more suicides than cancer, probably an exaggeration and yet in my heart i believe it

51. She's had really bad permanent eyeliner done
Look at the photos at the top of the thread; you can see a really blotchy, nearly vestigial trace of the stuff where it's good and dark in the bottom picture.

What would REALLY suck is to go through THAT procedure--it's eyelid tattooing, which couldn't be a pleasant experience--then have to cover it up with more eyeliner so you don't look like shit.

She could have overslept, or lost track of time while getting high, and had to rush to the court house. She gets there, sees reporters there, but has to get inside anyways. Knowing the reporters are still outside, she decides to freshen up a bit, fix her makeup, before leaving...

42. I'm no expert, but I have to agree with you.
Looking at the images in the OP, you can see the line from the eye down along the side of the nose to the mouth is vastly different than the one you show here.

Plus, the shading is not subtle enough to make any sense. It looks more like a line drawn down her face than a curve of a face. Even if the line is, say, mascara running down her face, the eye looks flat.

And did she get a nose job while in court, too?
