McCain spoke before a tiny audience last night "by design"
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 12:57 PM by RedEarth
The McCain people are telling the AP they had McCain speak before a tiny audience "by design."

From the AP ...

In a symbolic move, Obama spoke in the same hall where McCain will accept the Republican nomination at his party's convention in September. Campaign officials, citing the local fire marshal, put the crowd at 17,000 inside the eXcel Energy Center, plus another 15,000 outside.
McCain addressed a smaller crowd by design, an estimated 600 in his audience and another 600 outside.

10. Oh, there were 600 outside
But protestors aren't allowed into Republican rallies, which are all private affairs for the closest and richest friends.

5. That didn't seem like a typical crowd, either
At one point, some bozo went "YEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!" as if he were watching a football game or a war or something.

6. "By design" = Rove-style message managment.
They didn't dare open an entire auditorium to just anyone. They needed as many True Believers as they could find, and they couldn't find many of them.

Or there would have been huge screaming crowds. The McCain campaign wouldn't have orchestrated this pitiful showing if they could have done any better.

12. Don't forget McCain's last speech before a "large" crowd...
...he was "heckled", and even that seem staged!

7. There were three hundred people there?
Three or four dozen, at most is what it looked like.

And whats this AP under-exaggeration going on about Obama's rally? The local papers were talking in excess of 40,000 with the lines going on for miles.

17. The Pontchartrain Center, where McSatan spoke, seats 3,500!
http://www.pontchartraincenter.com/site.php

Welcome to the Pontchartrain Center located in Kenner, LA. (NOT New Orleans, but 10 miles west in the Red 'burbs. -Ed.) Our multipurpose convention center/arena is the host of more than 400 events annually: consumer/trade shows, sporting events, concerts, family shows, company parties, Mardi Gras balls, dance revues, conventions/meetings, banquets and receptions.

It’s all right here with 70,000 square feet of convention space, fixed arena seating of more than 3,500, and high quality catering and concessions…all under one roof.

Like the man said, "Hell is a half-filled auditorium". So what is a one-sixth-filled auditorium? :P
