Lieberman attacks Obama on Republican conference call with reporters

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/04/lieberman-attacks-obama-over-foriegn-policy/#more-7598

(CNN) – On the first day of the general election campaign, the very first Republican conference call attacking presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama featured his party's 2004 vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Lieberman.

"Senator Obama argued today that American foreign policy in recent years has essentially sort of strengthened Iran," said Lieberman on a conference call for reporters hosted by John McCain's campaign Wednesday. "..If Israel is in danger today, it's not because of American foreign policy, which has been strongly supportive of Israel in every way. It's not because of what we’ve done in Iraq, it’s because Iran is a fanatical terrorist expansionist state."

On the same call, Republican Rep. Eric Cantor of Ohio said Obama's speech did nothing to dispel doubts about his commitment to Israel.

Both men spoke shortly after Obama addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Washington. The GOP has been hoping that concerns by some in the Jewish community about the Illinois senator's willingness to diplomatically engage Iranian leaders will allow them to make inroads with that crucial Democratic voting bloc.

2. I think we should start hinting that his days as a Democrat are numbered.
I'm sick of his attitude, and we won't need him at all after November.

6. My fear is that he will be senate Dem vote #60 and we'll still have
to kiss his ass. I'd almost rather just get to 58 seats and boot his ass from the party rather than have to rely on him to get cloture.

5. Well Iran is certainly stronger than it was before we attacked Iraq
I don't think even Loserman would deny that. I think a good case can be made that it is due to our idiotic foreign policy.

18. No, I don't..
he's not my Rep, but he's my parents' unfortunately. It's big Bushbot country down there, and I don't think the Dems have been able to make much headway against him.

17. Israel has 150 nukes....why are they concerned?
I'm convinced that the RW politicians in Israel are in cahoots with their US Republican counterparts to influence our 2008 election. Sure hope the majority of Americans figure this out...
