VERY Big Swing State News out of New Mexico
With 99% reporting (3 precincts left).

1. The policical career of the quite notorious Heather Wilson is effectively dead.* At this time, Steve Pearce is leading her in the republicon primary for Senate by a mere 2,900 votes. Let's pray this doesn't change. Honestly Pearce is pretty bad, but not as bad as her, and much, much easier to beat IMO. If you know anything about this insane woman, then you will know why this is number one.
*Until she participates in felony vote-buying again to get her - sleazy snake oil salesperson - foot in the door.

2. Ron Paul has taken 14% of the republican vote in NM's presidential primary! Take that McStupidface!

3. ~107-110K republicons and 151-154K Democrats turned out to vote! :wow:

4. The Democratic nominee for NM Senator is Tom Udall, who ran unopposed and received far more votes than Steve Pearce and Heather Wilson combined (at least 25K more!). Tom Udall has made us proud with his voting record, especially when he voted against the Iraq war authorization.

5. Breakdown of races by district for congressional representatives...

District 1
Darren White (R) v. Martin Heinrich (D)
~50K Democrats and ~44K republicons turned out to vote.

District 2 - my home district (This was a VERY hotly contested primary on the republicon side with 5 candidates).
Edward Tinsley (R) v. Harry Teague (D)
~38K Democrats and ~36K republicons turned out to vote.

District 3
Daniel East (R) v. Ben Ray Lujan (D)
~64K Democrats and ~27K republicons turned out to vote
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mark my words, New Mexico goes completely blue in November. We already have Bill Richardson for our awesome Gov. We have Jeff Bingamin (who also voted against the war) holding his seat in the Senate, and the other senate seat and all three congressional seats are up for grabs. Primary turnout and polling looks very promising for the Dems. I believe that NM will lean for Obama and I think he will help down ticket races here greatly. The only race that I fear may go for the R's is my own District 2. Let me see what I can do about that.

:patriot:

Do happy dance with me...c'mon :)

8. I worked the polls south of you yesterday, barely 20% turnout
and Teague is no McCamley

Teague has deep pockets, but I don't think it will be enough

but I agree, Pearce is toast.

9. I feel the same way...
about McCamley. His loss is very disappointing, and I doubt Teague has much of a chance.

Here's hoping that Obama and Udall can give him a piggy back ride.

11. Great news from the most beautiful state in America.
Anyone who has experienced New Mexico from the inside of their speeding cars on I-40 don't have a clue how much enchantment awaits them in your world.

If I could clone myself, the preferred clone would live at 9,000 feet near Penasco, Rodarte and Vadito, under the shadow of Jicarita Peak. (Can you tell I've already picked out some land there. You would be right.)

Thanks for sharing the good news. New Mexicans are astute voters. Now that your votes are more likely to be counted accurately, that should definitely be reflected in the next election.

BTW, I have met Tom Udall. He honors his family and his state by his service.

15. Absolutely!
It would be great to have Bill Richarson as the VP. he is heads above most others on national security, foreign policy and diplomacy. Remember him talking about his resume nonstop? Also, he would solve the problem that Obama seems to have with hispanics.

The problem is that Carville (jack-ass) knew all this and pulled that Judas BS so that there would be a backlash from the Hillary camp if Obama did choose him. So, unfortunately I don't think it will happen. I knew what that jerk was doing when he did it.

21. The Dem nominee for NM-1 is Martin Heinrich...
He was chosen in the primary last night. He will be going up against Darren White

Right now he has some cash problems from a hard fought primary, and White has over $600K in the bank. I hope he can get his fundraising underway in a big hurry.

19. Good riddance, Nasty Heather Wilson! Bring it, Pearce!
Thanks for this!

I can't wait to actually do some work this fall to make SURE NM is true blue! I haven't done anything in the past...time to get my butt in gear. I'm actually scared to do much of anything where I live because of what I do for a living but maybe I can join you or AZDemDist6 nearby to contribute.

Are you going to volunteer for Teague? Let me know if you would like to get together on something (I'm also in Dist. 2.)

22. I'm ready to get to work as well.
I will be contacting the local Obama and Udall campaigns to see how I can get involved. I want to help out Teague as well, but I want to learn more about him before I vouch for him door to door (I was going for McCamley).

I'm planning to hit up the bad neighborhoods here (the ones where I feel somewhat safe), and see just what I can do to change the ratio of Dems to Repugs in this county. Chaves votes something like 70% republican, so it's a hard uphill battle.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting together on this. Maybe we could work out a back scratching arrangement where I could help you and AZDemDist6 canvass your towns if you come here and help me canvass mine, or help with phone banking lists maybe.

I'm like you in that I'm a little afraid to do much. It's mostly because of the highly partisan attitude here, and not my job (you must be in oil-just guessing). Anyhow, Obama has inspired me to get off my butt and do something, so it's time to get to it.
