NATO wants Russia out of disputed territory

The Secretary-General of NATO has demanded that Russia withdraw troops from the breakaway Georgian province of Abkhazia.

The troops were sent in last last week, causing NATO to accuse Russia of breaching Georgia's sovereignty.

Mr de Hoop Scheffer said the Russian move was contributing to instability in a volatile area.

Russia announced has sent 300 members of an unarmed unit from the army's railway force to the province to help carry out repairs on the network.

Russia has called it a humanitarian gesture but Georgia has responded by claiming that Russia is planning a military intervention in the province.

I think Russia thinks nato is a joke

1. NATO is a joke. The US almost shattered the alliance over the Iraq War.

It was so bad France, Germany, and several others were grumbling about starting a military alliance sans the USA precisely to avoid clusterfucks the USA starts, and the US, of course, was vehemently opposed to such talk.

2. NATO needs to be dissolved.

And US military bases in Europe need to be closed. It is none of our business. Just like Abkhazia is none of Western Europe's business either.
