6. He should have trademarked that rhythm.
You know which one I am talking about (it doesn't translate well in type). Everything from "Not Fade Away" to "I Want Candy" copped it.

20. Bo lived in the suburbs of Albuquerque for many years, back in the day
We used to boogie to him and his family band every Friday somewhere in the area.

That was swell.

Bo Diddley! Bo Diddley!

29. Summer of 1963 - The Beach Club - Myrtle Beach
I danced with him, on stage.
I was pretty drunk and he was really a good sport about it.
There seemed to be no need for security back then.
'The crowd went wild' as they say.
RIP, Bo.

He was one of a kind. Of all his recordings, The Story of Bo Diddley is my favorite; that laugh is priceless! http://www.last.fm/music/Bo+Diddley/_/The+Story+of+Bo+Diddley

15. Two GREAT songs - go look 'em up
From the "LIVE" album by Warren Zevon recorded way back when - right after the "Excitable Boy" album came out: Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger"

AND

A little more obscure, Mike Henderson and the Bluebloods: "Pay Bo Diddley" about Bo signing away the rights to all of his songs to Leonard Chess and the Chess record label.

Goodbye Bo.
You sure knew how to boogie.

18. That Zevon live album...
"Stand in the Fire". It came out for the first time on CD last year. One of the most raucous live albums ever.

I always enjoyed Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks' version of "Who Do You Love". You almost expect to be lifted off of the ground while listening to it.

But a Bo Diddley cover is still a pale comparison to the original version...

21. Very, Very Sad
Saw him play around town a few times over the past 10 years or so. He would just be waking up at 10 or 11 PM - 'round midnight he really hit his stride.

He was definitely not a product of some assembly line, and we'll never see his likes again.

Go Bo Diddley!

24. Link to the story
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/02/diddley.obit/index.html

(CNN) -- Bo Diddley, the musical pioneer whose songs, such as "Who Do You Love?" and "Bo Diddley," melded rhythm and blues and rock 'n' roll through a distinctive thumping beat, has died. He was 79.

Diddley died Monday, surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in Archer, Florida, a family spokeswoman said.

The cause was heart failure, his family said.

The world-renowned guitarist's signature beat -- usually played on an equally distinctive rectangular-bodied guitar -- laid the foundation for rock 'n' roll for decades, and became so identified with him that it became known as the "Bo Diddley" beat.
