Universal Studios Backlot Fire Destroys "King Kong," "Back to the Future" Exhibits

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A massive fire destroyed a set from "Back to the Future," the King Kong exhibit and a video vault at Universal Studios.

Los Angeles County fire Captain Frank Reynoso said the blaze broke out just before dawn Sunday on a backlot stage at the 400-acre property. The fire was contained to the lot, although it continued to burn through Sunday afternoon.

At least seven people, most of whom are firefighters, were injured in the blaze. A firefighter and a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy were among the injured after both men were about 40 to 50 yards away from a building when a pressurized cylinder exploded inside. Both suffered minor injuries.

It wasn't immediately known what caused the explosion.

The iconic courthouse square from "Back to the Future" was destroyed, and the famous clock tower that enabled Michael J. Fox's character to travel through time was damaged, fire officials said. Two mock New York and New England streets used both for movie-making and as tourist displays were a total loss.

We just need to get that Delorean up to 88mph and we can go back and stop that fire....
