2. A Democrat, first and foremost
and Richardson's name is always at the top of the list, even though we'd love to keep him here in New Mexico.

He's one of the few people who could possibly undo the damage people like Rice and Bolton have done to the State Department.

Bill Clinton, of course, should be at the UN. He's one of the few who could undo the damage done by Bolton.

15. Richardson has more of a track record in international negotiations
and has stated many times that he will remain governor rather than take the number 2 spot on the ticket.

However, Clark would be great in the #2 spot, giving Obama the military expertise his team requires and putting a southerner on the ticket. Richardson would be of little use to him as a vote getter. Contrary to GOP popular wisdom, Hispanics do not vote in a bloc.

13. Maybe it's just me....
but I think I have a problem with a military man being Secretary of State.

I really, really like Clark (he was my horse in the 2004 primaries, kind of), but that position should not be a military one. I think that it has historically been military-free until Bush (of course) named Colin Powell to the position.

Maybe it's just me, and I'm missing something (or completely wrong), but having a former general -- especially one who was involved in authorizing aggressive action -- as Sec of State just smacks of jingoism.

14. I think Clark is smart enough that it won't be a problem. I was always against a military
person in any top spot in the government, but I've read a lot about Clark and I really respect him.

18. Bill Richardson, no brainer
Edited on Mon May-19-08 04:45 PM by Canuckistanian
Already has TONS of successful foreign and diplomatic experience.

Served as Ambassador to the UN. Hostage negotiations with Iran, N. Korea and Cuba. Even negociated with Saddam to get two American contractors released.

U.S. Secretary of Energy. Adjunct Professor at the Kennedy School of Government. Chairman of the Democratic Governor's Association.

Legalized medical marijuana in New Mexico.

This man shames Condilliar with his achievements.
