Obama needs to address the perception by some that he's naive about foreign policy...
Edited on Fri May-16-08 12:37 PM by Postman
Was turning the dial on the radio and stopped on 710AM WOR when I heard a caller say she was impressed with Obama's ability to rally people, his speaking ability, his leadership qualities but was not going to vote for him in the GE if he becomes the nominee because she sees him as being naive in foreign policy.

This was in response to Bush's "appeasement" speech in Israel. The caller believed that another holocaust was entirely possible.

Where do you begin deconstructing these paranoid, mis-informed, fearful worldviews?

Is this atmosphere created by a corporate media failing to do it's job of informing the public about basic facts (and complicated ones)?

1. She didn't hear his speech today I'm guessing...
Then again, it probably wouldn't have mattered...she already had her mind made up.

3. What pisses me off about this is...
the show host (I think it's Joan Hamburg) didn't point out the fact that Obama was correct about the Iraq quagmire. Doesn't that count for something? Not having been in favor of the greatest foreign policy blunder in modern times escapes the memory of alot of people.

Obama says he was against the Iraq War. He happened to not be a Senator when that vote was taken.

4. How can he communicate with idiots like that?
There is nothing more naive than invading someone's country and expecting to be seen as a "liberator! Absolutely nothing!

6. The corporate media IS NOT failing in its assigned job
The corporate media is doing exactly what its owners intend it to do. Period.

Let me repeat that - The corporate media is NOT FAILING to do its assigned job.

When will people get this? The Powers that Be know what they are doing. In fact, over three years ago, CNN used as a "Teaser" the public response to a poll on the impeachment possibilities against theBush/Cheney administration. The teaser went on and on from 11Am Pacific Time until 11:39 or so.
IF the notion of impeachment was not an extremely popular concept - this would not have been a teaser!!

The Powers that Be know that the average person (That person is not all that different from you and me!) does not want Roe vs WEade shoved back. They know we were in the streets Jan February 2003. They know we don't want dependence on foreign oil,or any oil. Has anyone else noticed the huge campaign over the last few months about the evil, the absolute horrible EVIL of ethanol? In a sane dictatorship, someone in the Mainstream Media would say, "Ethanol is indeed part of the answer. Ethanol fro0m corn kernels in NOT! Bt ethanol from corn husks, corn cobs, etc is truly a solution."

We have an insane dictarorship, one that is in an symbiotic reltionship with the CIA. Your local TV and radio talking heads are part of the CIA. That doesn't mean that they have ever knowingly signed on. It just means that so far they haven't stepped out of the box. When they do, their next rpomotion is denied, or they are told that their viewership numbers are down and they need to be replaced.
