The chief judge of the Guantánamo Bay war court has set June 5 for the first court appearances of alleged 9/11 architect Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators.

Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann notified military defense attorneys by email Wednesday afternoon that he was assigning himself to the case -- and would arraign the men on June 5 at the U.S. Navy base in southeast Cuba.

It was unclear whether the date would hold. Kohlmann instructed case lawyers to notify the court if the date was not possible.

At least one of the five formerly CIA-held detainees accused in the worst terror attack on U.S. soil has yet to see an attorney, said Army Col. Steve David, chief defense counsel.

In addition, the counsel for one of the other five, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Brian Mizer, has another court date that day. Another judge has scheduled the trial of Osama bin Laden's driver, Salim Hamdan of Yemen, for June 2. It should last a week.
