GOP Whip Roy Blunt: Dems won Mississippi and Louisiana by running “on what the GOP is for.”

http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0508/Boeher_.html

<snip>

GOP Whip Roy Blunt downplayed the GOP’s problems, saying that “six months ago, Rudy Giuliani was the front runner in the Republican contest and Barack Obama did not have a chance.”

Blunt said that Democrats won in Mississippi and Louisiana by running “on what the GOP is for.”

“So we know now that the message works,” he said. “So we have to be sure that nationally, we connect the message with the Republican Party, rather than the other party.”

6. Partly true
The southern dems were pro life social conservatives. However on healthcare, economics, taxes, social security and possibly foreign policy they were dems.

12. Wrap it up...I'll take it.
At the end of the day, they are light years better than a "moderate Republican".

8. In Mississippi, it is true
Childers was running a very conservative campaign. I believe he even ran in support of tax cuts.

He will fit in very nicely with the Blue Dog Coalition.

GOPers have a problem in that they kept beating the immigration reform dead horse.

9. This why I like the repukes chances this year,
“So we know now that the message works,” he said. “So we have to be sure that nationally, we connect the message with the Republican Party, rather than the other party.”

Just promise voters more right-wing ideology and we will win. The definition of insane is, keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome.

All the right can do is get some advertising gurus to make up some more lying slogans that the idiot 30% will believe in.

The repuke strategy will be to get a new PR consultant.

17. And no matter what they say they have a serious credibility gap.
The day after the SCOTUS decision to install the Bush junta, Lord Vader said to moderate GOP Senators that the campaign was over and that their actions in office would not be dictated by what had to be said in the campaign.

10. Yes, we did run on "what the GOP is for"...
and the voters agreed--they don't want a damned bit of it, either.

13. Well, maybe on what Republicans say they are for.
But not on what the GOP actually does.

Big government spending? Democrats spend less. Prosperity? GDP does better under Democrats. Fiscal responsibility? If you haven't noticed what happens to the national debt when Republicans are in control, you need professional help. Inflation? Unemployment? Democrats do better.

We all like lower taxes and Republicans do have a better record at that. Trouble with that is, they just send their tax bills to the next administration by running up debt, and most of the breaks go to the richest 10%.

Oh, how about family values, then? They're the party of family values, right? :eyes:

Sucks to be them, huh? Nobody but rich people and suckers are buying their snake oil anymore.

15. Both candidates , Mississippi and Louiianna , are very conservative
Democrats. Naturally their message would sound like GOP.
Someone said our candidates ran to the right of the Republican
candidate.

If you run from a Republican District, you had best sound
Conservative.

This is nothing new.
